Nope. I'm over here- http://www.datamancer.net/blog/

The things he's talking about doing to that rifle are....well, horrifying, to be frank. I have much better taste than that.

Wow dude, you've gained at least 1 follower on your blog. Ima tell all my friends. You do the exact same kind of projects I want to do once I buy a house and get set up with a garage. Inspiring.

Thanks, Stone. Not sure if you use RSS readers but there's a syndication link on the sidebar that makes it easy to follow updates. Yeah I don't have a proper workshop so everything I do is out of a single bay in a 2-car garage, just to let you know that you don't need a ton of space to do cool stuff.

I gotta say man, I really like the work you did with that laptop. when my friends first showed me the youtube video I didn't think much until the screen booted and I was floored.

It must have been a pain in the *** to assemble those gears in the cover. From an imagineering standpoint and from a technical one.

I wanted to try it out with my own laptop, but my boss already doesn't appreciate my hulk of a machine supplementing my company provided clunker.

Tool space and Tools are very different things. If you got the mind and hands, you can do tons of stuff without a fancy shop.

Thanks Spiggy! The gears weren't TOO bad, because they're purely cosmetic. I am, however, planning for future versions to be functional (well, they'll spin, but I'm not sure what they'll actually DO). This is of course much easier for me to pull off now that I'm in Cali and have access to waterjet machines and CNC stuff. When I made the first laptop, I was working out of a leaky, drafty garage in New Jersey like 5 years ago, in the tiny little path I was able to carve out of my mother's crap (she's like a borderline hoarder). I basically had a 3' x 3' workbench, a 3rd-hand crappy table saw, a miter box, and some basic hand tools, so I was pretty limited in what I could build.

You know, I'd been considering trying to make my own design along this line, never got more done than just some measurements and drawings. Never got anything put into Inventor or anything.

I think I'll just buy yours instead.

Sign me up for at least one, and probably one each for the 3 91/30's and 2 carbines.

I need one of Datamancer's mags to really set her off !

Unless you have evil features or the mag was not made before 2000, it is not a problem.

So technically 20 rounds for a (standard) Mosin M38 is possible right?

Nope ! This falls under the hi-cap mag law , NOT the AW law. Tubular only over 10 rounds in a fixed configuration.

Oh, hey guys. Sorry, I was in NY for the last 2 weeks or so. Just checking this thread now.
Updates? Let's see...

I got all my official patent stuff squared-away and got all the certificates in the mail and whatnot. I'm tweaking a few small things on the design like the bottom plate, deciding whether I want to make a single, removable plate with an included spring anchor, or make a separate piece with the spring anchor and spring guide....stuff like that.

I've got my metal stamping guy working on another project right now, so I want to get that squared away first before I start distracting him with specs on the mag.

Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.
