Default Reno NV range locations

Heading to Reno next week. Just wondering where people go to shoot. Hopefully don't have to travel far from the city. Thanks.

There's some places to play out around Hungry Valley, and plenty of other BLM land around Reno. Not sure where the established ranges are out that way, though. I never bother.
More regimes have been brought, piecemeal, to their knees by what was once called “Irish Democracy”—the silent, dogged resistance, withdrawal, and truculence of millions of ordinary people—than by revolutionary vanguards or rioting mobs.

From what i've heard, you could just go straight out to open land, find a spot thats at least 1000yrd from civilization and offload your gun. BUT it is dependant on the county, call the local sheriff for exact laws on that, and please, don't quote me on this, I heard it through a friend. Still worth looking into IMO.

Washoe County has a 1 mile rule from habitable dwellings for rifles and pistols, which actually makes it pretty hard to find spots to shoot. Give the Sheriff a call, they can point you in the right direction.

1 mile from the road away from houses with a good back stop. You can head up into Sun Valley and drive to some open areas. nagorb knows a couple too. BOTH of us know the laws up there due to my ignorance.

SHERIFF is MORE than happy to tell you where the popular legal shooting areas are. I believe the range down Pyramid Highway (exit off freeway, drive until you see the Washoe Range Sign, don't turn around) is open all year.

Washoe County Park on Pyramid Hwy. The public range seems OK. I've never shot there. I have shot the 1000 yard range just before the public one. Anyway, Palimino Valley Range is about 25 miles North of Sparks. There is also a place that my dad shoots ATA outside of Reno but, it's Somewhere South of Reno.
