Default Trap shooting with a .410

I'm talking about real trap shooting not just breaking clays. Anyway, Tujungatoes and I went to Oak Tree today and shot 3 rounds each. I'm just curious if anyone else here shoot trap with a .410? If so, what kind of scores do you get? I know that my dad shoots a monthly .410 shoot in Sunnyvale but, I've never hear anyone else (except the old farts in Sunnyvale) doing this.

My first round wasn't too bad. I lost count but, I know it was in the low teens. I tried to "game it" a little during my third round and ended up with a giant 5! So much for overthinking it.

back before we lost the lease and they tore it down and put a honda dealership there we had some 410 shooters at sactrap. we were the "old farts' but were sactos version. i was one of the younger ones there at the time in my early
50's

my "old fart" mentors could run 25 pretty regular but my best was 23. that was on the 16 yd line . i was too slow for much farther away but there were a few them that would amaze ya! i considered it an honor they let me shoot with them.

they would reload paper hull .410's till they came out of the gun nothing but brass and a little paer hanging on it

those were the days1

I have never shot trap with a .410 but had a blast shooting skeet with one. Talk about a fun and challenging clay game. I had so much fun with the small bore that I have been on the lookout for a nice .410 ever since.

.410 is not my smallbore shotgun! One of the employees there thought I should try my hand at skeet with the Remington 121 Routledge I brought to show tujungatoes. It's a .22lr shotgun!

First time. I've been there several times but, this was the first time I shot there. Hell, I can throw clays at home but, I wanted to try shooting .410s from the 16 yard line today.

There is only one thing wrong about shooting a 22lr shotshell at skeet. The 22lr shotshell is loaded with #12 shot, and they probably won't reach 20 yards with much energy if any at all.

I have both #10s and #12s. Either way, I doubt I'd be able to hit anything on a skeet range with it or with a 12g. I'd love to find someone who knows more about Routledges and how they were intended to be used though. Mine came from Gene Aurty's estate and that's about all I know about it.

Routledges were made as "garden guns" pest control was its intended use.

I was under the impression that they were used to shoot indoor trap on a smaller scale. I saw a picture of a bolt action one with a mini thrower mounted to it.

I used to work at a trap & skeet range for the Bohiemian Grove. There was a guy that could do a 75 round string with a 410, from the hip no less

The first time I ever went pheasant hunting I used an old .410 pump, and since then I have wanted one. Still haven't found a cheap one. I guess I'll have to keep using my 12 gauge, oh well.

I remember one of my Hunter Safety Instructors telling us how every year he makes a bet with his duck hunting buddy to see who can get the most birds with a .410. His friend has never accepted the bet.

Back on topic, using one for trap would be challenging.
