Kerley's
20301 Stevans Creek Blvd.
Cupertino, CA 95014
408-255-1920

Coyote Valley
1000 San Bruno Ave
Morgan Hill, CA
408-778-3600

Coyote Valley only sells mid to high end shotguns and as far as I'm concerned if you’re looking for a mid to high end shotgun Coyote Valley is the place to go.

Don't forget:

Krausewerk Collectibles (home of the $200,000 handmade 45 ACP Lugers)
(650) 571-7583
83 E 21st Ave # B
San Mateo, CA 94403

and

Imbert & Smithers
(650) 593-4207
1144 El Camino Real
San Carlos, CA 94070

Opps, sorry about that, that's what I get for trying to "work" and cruise the web at the same time. Changed to reflect the correct old world master of the 45 Luger. And last time I checked, Mike said they were valued about $200,000. Not $10K.

No no no no! It's Krausewerk!!

Krausewerk has the Lugers (or did). A decade or so ago, Mike Krause was able to blueprint the last surviving "American Eagle 45ACP" Luger and he made a limited run of 100 of them at $10K each.

Mike was on "Tales of the Gun".

Yeah, Mike Krause is the one who makes the custom .45 Lugers.

Small shop, but a lot of nice stuff... and a lot of junk too. It'll take you hours to look at everything on display. Neat stuff hidden in the back and side rooms too!

  • (a little out of the way) Markley's in Watsonville (one of my favorites, just pretty far away)
  • Reed's Sport shop (off 680, in southern San Jose) (really big, great selection in the store, prices range from high to stratospheric, wait for a good sale)
  • Reed's indoor range (near SJC airport) (they are mostly a range, sell black rifle accessories like uppers and stocks, they can also special-order firearms for you)
  • Big Ben Loan on San Carlos near downtown San Jose (last pawnshop in the area I know off that carries guns)
  • Big 5 sporting goods stores (for rifles, with small selection)
  • Does Mel Cotton's (also San Carlos near downtown S.J.) still carry firearms?
  • Castello's, on Lincoln in the Willow Glen section of San Jose (very nice stuff, all hidden in display cases, good selection of weird cleaning and maintenance supplies, and a few friendly old geezers running the store)

The following three I have never verified (don't even know whether they still exist); locating them is on my To-Do list:
  • Centurion Firearms, 3170 Milrook Dr, S.Jose
  • Real Guns, 568 E.Wedell Dr, S.Jose
  • Roger's Relics, 645 Clara Vista Ave, S.Clara

There is a guy who maintains a list of shooting ranges in the bay area (google for him); maybe one could start a web page (or use his web page) for gun stores?

I'll try to get back to this tonight, and edit this post with full phone numbers and addresses and web pages where applicable.

(Not that gun stores matter to me in the immediate future, the off-list lowers and an extremely lucky find of a super-nice pistol at the Gun Exchange have eaten my toy budget for about 2 years)
Mel cottons still sells guns was in a couple weeks ago. I think mainly shotguns, rifles don't remember seing handguns at all.

Rogers Relics a Home based FFL, great prices for transfers run by Roger and his wife LISA. They do not to my knowledge stock firearms for sale but might specialorder guns for customers.( I didn't ask) they transfered my lower for a great price. Appointment only.

I am sure they don't sell handguns. However, they do have some handgun accessories like a couple of cases and handgun ammo (they're about the only one in the area that carries Fiocchi hangun cartridges Trader's is the other).

We sold off all the remaning handguns from Mel Cottons inventory once the HSC requirements for handguns took effect a couple years back, and they decided to just stop selling them.

Contra Costa Collectable Firearms
1429 Cypress Street
Walnut Creek, CA 94596

Always best to call first. They do some local gun shows and are often away on weekends. They handle mostly collectables. I just started the paperwork on a .50 DE with them today.

There WAS 3 down to two now; Darrin's in Downtown Napa, also has a TONNNNNNN of paintball stuff.

The Last Gun shop..... On Imola, south end of Napa. Get ready for the 'disinterested' attitude unless you walk in waving money....litterally .

Was one more run by a guy named Don....but has closed up; still does CCW classes and apparently does still have his FFL and sometimes will do PPT's but I'll be darned if'n I know how to find him.......edit, here-- gone i believe Dan Orchid
R&D Guns&Gunsmithing
R & D Training Center
1900 Jefferson Street
Napa, CA 94559
phone: 707-257-1894
fax: 707-257-3391---- but the shop location is NO LONGER a gun shop

Also a couple of Private- lable FFL'rs if you know the right cops in the area.

PS- Dont forget BIG 5 Guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont know how """"Bay Area"""" you want. There's Sonoma Firearms, there's also a decent place out/up in Santa Rosa- real nice folks from what I remember. Decent stocked but horrid reputation place along 80 in Vacaville, and another buried a couple miles away from the outlets.

By the way, it might be pretty helpful if you posted FFL Transfer/DROS fees for these stores so people can weigh if driving far out is worth the money they save.

Eh, I think it'd be good karma points to help those impaired by laziness.

This might be less helpful than it would seem. In my experience, FFL Dealers seem to change their transfer fees based on things like time of day, relative humidity, and what they had for breakfast.

One dealer in San Bruno went from...

$75 plus DROS for an out of state transfer I did

to

"Sorry, I don't do out of state transfers" six months later

to

$40 plus DROS for my girlfriend to do an out of state transfer a month after that. Granted, my girlfriend is much better looking than I am, but it just goes to show that listing dealer transfer fees here might not do much good.

So basically I should bring some eye candy with me to the store when I'm consulting about FFL transfers. Gotcha.
