All of you guys are ak rockstars... Seriously, My build went great thanks to you guys putting up with my constant barrage of questions and "Does this look good to you? (And then proceeding to walk over to 2 other builders and ask the same thing)".

I've yet to take my AK out of the plastic bag after parking it, but I'm sure the finish looks great. I am considering maybe doing like a Teflon finish on it, just because I like the look and feel of it and I'm the sure darkness will look amazing against the stock I'm working on.

I'm very happy, cannot wait to build another, and... Seriously, I am grateful that you guys put up with me.

Thanks!

BTW Alex, I forgot my dremel there, it slipped my mind.. I was a little tired.
Hehe, that should have been added to the list of stuff to bring: "A ROCKSTAR or Monster for Z"..

I had a great time at the BP and thank you Alex and Jenny for hosting our party. The tri-tip sandwiches were great ! Now my big toe hurts and my gout must have kicked in again. Finally met FredieUSA, what a guy, we need to connect a USB port on his memory and download all the info for our sticky! Nice to see old and meet new friends again. Overall I enjoyed the BP. Thanks everyone!

Speaking of tri-tip sandwiches... What kind of BBQ sauce was that? It was AMAZING!

Another great build party! Great people. LOTS of finished builds! Even a saiga front end conversion. Wasn't planning on it but how about a fall bp?!

Thanks for putting this party together Alex! Your place is just the right size and everything needed to build was present. The food was delicious like always and the Park tank was awesome, with the help of the weather this time too!

I observed that lots of people helped anyone with questions and builders were very friendly! Thats always good. I would definitely attend again!

I cheated and started ahead of the build day.
basically I took a couple of hours before the build day to:
bend tapco flats,
trim top rails,
rivet the trunnions,
rivet trigger guards
and semi-fit magazines.

Once I got to the party I:
welded the rails(Alex's welder is right on for a 3 second hold),
heat-treated,
degreased,
blasted,
parked,
pressed barrels
and assembled.

These were once complete:
MD 90 Kit, matching numbers, unfired
Romy G Kit, mismatched numbers, unfired

After being sent to Pat aka Restoreit, they came back as 9.5" pistol kits.
I named them FML-47
After the park tank, I used CLP this time instead of WD-40/walmart lube, thanks H&S Battalion Armory LOL!
I cut down AMD-65 brakes, idea copied from other pistols I've seen.
Wood for #1 isnt done yet, thinking if I should go with RIT red dye or a darker charcoal looking stain, shes the one going to get neo chromed.

The park tank did a beautiful job on my receivers, hope you can tell from the pics and Im glad my laser engraved marks were deep enough to stay after the finish.
Hopefully I can get one of these guys neo-chromed and then I can post in the pimp guns thread!

Awesome build party guys, fun seeing familiar faces and making new friends; see you next time!

Anytime is a good time for an AK BP. I will make sure I don't go out drinking the night before so I can be more useful. But it was good to see a lot of people I was helping taking the reins of doing whatever I showed them vs. me having to do the process for them. I.e. show someone how to spot weld and set it up and they are gtg.

I used my bolt cutters with these jaws
http://www.tothtool.com/product_info...e56d7e97491b00

For those interested:
I like how Toth's Trigger Guard Rivet Jig holds the receiver down like Pat's Trigger Guard Rivet Jig, if you dont have access to a press, then Toth's should work for you.

Teg,
If you need to headspace and drill the barrel hole on your builds, come to woodey's BP on August 15th he has a mill.
