This is the first time I have seen this video on youtube, if this has already been discussed, please remove it. That guy is my hero.

I've never seen it. Glad the bad guys were caught/killed. Reminds me of that video of the watch store owner from LA that was involved in multiple robberies and wounded/killed all the bad guys in all of them.

I've seen the video before, but not with the commentary.

Good on him... once a Jarhead, always a Jarhead.

Those 2 guys had no clue who they were messing with until it was too late. The need to make a TV show called "America's Most Unwanted" and show clips like this. Maybe it would give the dirtbags pause before walking through the door.

makes you reconsider the old saying, "most gunfights only see 2-3 shots fired....a revolver is fine".

now, i want at least 10 if i was at a business. At home, i think a revolver is still fine.

overpost.

Anyway.

I'm guessing a 5 round S&W Chiefs Special or similar. Good on him on keeping his head cool; and yeah, when the balloon goes up, you freaking do NOT count rounds sent down range, you just keep cranking them out. Barry has my vote for bad a** of the week.

Anyone know when this occurred?

Great story, that's another win for the good guys.

This is exactly why you should have as many rounds as possible. When it comes time to shoot, you keep pulling that trigger until the threat stops. And it would not be hard to burn through 5 or even 10 rounds especially if your going up against multiple attackers. If the guy in the black jacket was on drugs, and decided not to bail, this man would have been dead.

I am constantly amazed how people declare six rounds in a revolver as a major handicap, but a 1911 with a 7 round magazine is gods gift to self defense.

When 6 rounds are up in a revolver, it's a pop the cylinder, pop the shells, throw in the speed loader close that business and you're ready to go. When your 7 rounds are up you drop, pop, pull and voila.

I know it's not quite that simple. There is definitely a double standard but there's some truth to it. Also, you can get an 8 rounder that doesn't stick out of a full sized frame so your advantage goes up by two rounds. This would've given him those 3 rounds he thought he had.

Good shoot! I'm glad he got to his gun as quick as he did. It's a good reminder that those 10 seconds it takes to open your safe/lock box may mean the difference between you getting shot or the BG taking the hit. It's terrible to think about if the BG had shot as soon as he pulled out his gun, there's no amount of training or reflexes that could catch that.

Not to knock the guy at all, but he was lucky to make it to his gun in time.

If I owned a jewelry store, I'd be wearing at least 2 guns at all times. Hell, if I wasn't such a fat@ss, I'd wear 3.

Glad the store owner wasn't hurt and one of the oxygen thieves was able to suffer for his actions and ultimately have his birth certificate revoked 3 years later.

Actually, a five-round, DAO snub-nosed revolver is a significant handicap compared to a 7+1 or 8+1 single-action pistol, and thatís before any reloads are deployed. A gunfight is best avoided in either case.

But.. but... what if there had been 10 bad guys who were determined? you would wish you had your glock and 5 extra mags then! and some training too. a year at some school.

I have yet to see a vid where 5 shot handgun running dry was the cause of the good guy not prevailing. I have seen where cops have emptied high capacity mags in the general direction of the problem and run dry with no results.

That is not saying cops can't shoot.. I am saying that if you think you have a lot of ammo and are trained to shoot as fast as you can.. that is what you will do.

Attitude is the best weapon in the fight.

I have a speedloader or two for my 340 pd but can't imagine a situation where it would be needed.

The vid is funny tho.. you can almost imagine the guy saying while holding his gun on the wounded perp....

"I know what you are thinking punk.. did he fire 5 rounds or just 4? but seeing as how this is a .357 magnum and....."

Probably a .38 chiefs special. I bet you he carries it on him now! He kept cool, Shoot it looked like a routine reaction. He handled the situation very well. Wouldn't expect much less of a combat vietnam veteran.

Well he used 5 and only got one of them... he would have been in trouble if the other guy came back. So I'd say the G17 with the 30-rounder sticking out the bottom is still the way to go!

My only question is why wasn't he carrying his weapon in the first place??? Thank god he wasn't shot while retrieving it! Either way kudos for him and his instincts!

How many shootings have you been in Lazs? Yeah I'm just a target shooter/collector too.

Do you think the victim of the robbery would've been unhappy with more rounds in his gun, an easier reload, or more training?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a great feeling to realize you didn't have two more rounds. His school was the marines and vietnam, not a path everyone can or will take.

Why conceal it? I'd be holding it!

Really though, I'm just looking at it from the standpoint of the video where he didn't have the gun on him anyway.

Good thing the guy in the dark coat didn't shoot right away after the first hand swipe. Always thankful when the good guy prevails. Does it really matter what gun he should have? If I was him I would have a 5 shot revolver on me concealed and the shortest pump shotgun I can legally have loaded with #6.

too funny, lot's of couch commandos here. As discussed on the other thread, some people freezes when the buzzer goes off and brags over here on how they could have handled the situation.
