Default AR 15 Pistol

Just curious, I see that most 223 AR pistols have the buffer spring tube sticking out the back end, but I've seen one or two versions that do not. Since the buffer tube is my main reason for not wanting one, I'm kind of curious as to how that's done.

Can the parts be bought & one built or must a completed one be bought, like the Olympic Arms for example?

I don't know. I've only found the olympic arms style. I know I saw a piston driven one somewhere....just like the SIG P556 pistols.

Apart from having a shorter bolt carrier and a piston system, they've also moved the recoil system to the front above the barrel.
The piston is also fixedly attached to the bolt carrier so that the recoil spring will can drive the bolt carrier forward after extraction.

Probably a bit like the M14.

I hope RRA will soon start selling their pistol upper separately. I want a few to put onto my pistol lowers (I have 3 pistol lowers that I made from 80%'s) .

Thumbs up

I just emailed RRA about the upper. We'll see what happens.

Finally got my AR pistol finished, up and running last week.

Started that project in November of '08 with the (for lack of a better word) help of Freakshow.

I wouldn't want anyone to ever get hit by a an overloaded manure wagon but I have a certain appreciation for irony.

Well the RRA looks like what I want, I suppose a SIG 556 would do as well.

Talking

Sorry, forgot to get back to this one.

I received an email from a very nice lady at RRA explaining that all of the uppers except for the Performance Piston System are available.

The PPS system is currently only available as a complete firearm.

Bummer.

However, I do have a maglock and a sled sitting on my desk.
