Yep, that's how they do it in the pros! Lol Looks excellent, like it was there from the factory. Too bad the factory doesn't do them that nice!

Went to my LGS and was checking out a rail gun. What is it about the rail gun that makes it look so much better than other 1911s with a rail? Generally speaking, I think 1911s with a rail look kind of weird, but the Colt Rail Gun looks amazing, it just looks...right.

It's funny you should say that, as I agree. I love the look of my Railgun, and the only other railed 1911 I like as much is the SA Professional w/rail. For me it has to do with the way the rail/dustcover align with the slide cut. The Railgun and the Pro both have lines that flow into each other from slide to dustcover. Others like the Kimber Warrior have a rail that sticks out and then cuts back making for an odd look.

About 7 years ago I sold off a lot of guns to buy metalworking machinery for my home shop. One of the guns sold was my stainless colt series 80, for $450 to my ex-father-in-law. I started getting the 1911 bug a few months ago and sent him and email asking if he was interested in selling it. I fully expected he'd double his money and was pleasantly surprised when he said I could have it back for what I paid for it. He's a class act all the way.

THat is awesome! I bought a Hi Power off of my Uncle that he had to sell to pay for schooling and I told him that if I ever decided to sell it, he could have it for what I paid for it.

Here is a pic of my Series 70 Reproduction Colt

The sights are Kings and he has "CHOW" under the slide and BBL lugs. It's an extremely tight gun and not so easy to take apart. It had a trigger shoe at some point and the grip safety was disabled when I got it so I kept the old one and replaced it with a period correct safety, not exactly sure why I did it.

This one is actually an example of Colt's more lacklustre QC and fit and finish. The good news is I won't have any regrets getting it modded and refinished/plated.

Default Stainless Commander

A couple of photos of my Commander XSE. The first is stock, the second with a few additions from C&S (Trigger system and thumb safety), 10-8 (flat trigger, mag button and grips screws), Ed Brown (standard recoil plug/guide), Wilson Combat (checkered MS housing), and Sarges Grips (ovals, way cool). Next up will be a 10-8 rear sight, bevel pack, front strap treatment and bead blast. The gun is nicely fit and shoots great!
