Default Need Automotive A/C Machine in San Gabriel area

So, I am trying to sell one of my trucks, but one of the issues is that it has no working AC. I put a bottle of R-134 in it and it just seems to have leaked out. A mechanic friend of mine helped me and we determined there is a leak in the system and it seems to be the compressor.

Apparently the process is time consuming and requires a skilled AC technician to help vacate and discharge the system and then once work is completed vacuum test and recharge the system.

Is there anyone in the San Gabriel Valley area that I might impose on to do this for very cheap or perhaps free?

If so, please send me a PM.

If the can leaked out (0 psi present) then you can change your part then get a vacuum pump on it if its flat. You don't need a recovery unit.

I figured that if there was no pressure I was safe to do the part exchange, but then I would still need a charge. From what I understand it is easy and my mechanic friend can do it, the hard part if finding the machine.

You think I could get away with replacing the compressor and then taking it to any old A/C shop for a cheap charge and fill?

i would think so, jeeze, ive charged maybe 40+ cars, im only 39 almost 40 yo. parts in, pull vacuum to 500 microns or less. YOU make them let you see!!!, (maybe 2-3 beers 30-60 minutes. shutoff vacuum for 15 minutes, microns hold, they charge per weight of refrigerant printed, turn on a/c see 39-45 degree air, no leaks its all good. if they are sharp, they will put uv/flourescent dye in @ time of charging for extra $20, then you can find leak later easy. please dye,

I didn't mean old as in age, I thought it was just a phrase people use.
