Default Three Gun in Corona Sun May 30th!!

Date: 5th Sunday of the month (weather permitting)
Start Time: 9AM (We recommend you arrive a little earlier to assist with setting up and signing in.)
Cost: $15.00 for Guest ; $10.00 for members
Equipment Required:

Eye and Ear Protection Mandatory

Rifle (50 rounds min.) Rifles will be loaded with 8 rounds max. to allow Garands to be used. 2 clips/magazines min.

Any type of legal 22 caliber or larger center fire rifle will be permitted. All rifles must have open sights. “Open sights” are aiming devices which do not use electronic circuitry and/or lenses. Detachable magazine are recommended but not mandatory. There is a possibility that 22LR may be used, but don’t count on it as we may not be able to track the hits on metal, so if you want to bring one, I would recommend having a center fire as a back-up.

Shotgun (25 rounds min.) Shotguns will be loaded with 5 rounds max.

Any type of legal 20 Gage or larger Shotgun will be permitted. All shotguns must have open sights, beads or ribs.

Handguns (60-100 rounds min.) Handguns will be 6 round per stage for 3 stages. 3 speedloaders/magazines min.

Any type of legal 32 caliber or larger center fire handgun will be permitted. All guns must have open sights. There is a possibility that 22LR may be used, but don’t count on it as we may not be able to track the hits on plates, so if you want to bring one, I would recommend having a center fire as a back-up.Not Allowed: Handguns of 44 magnum or higher power factor (It destroys the steel plates...). No Laser sights allowed

Holsters
The match will require the use of a holster for the handgun or revolver used during the match. The use of a particular type or brand of holster will not be required. However competitors will not be permitted to commence a course of fire wearing:
A shoulder holster or “tie-down” rig (visible or otherwise)
A holster, which does not completely prevent access to, or activation of, the trigger of the handgun while holstered.
Exception to the holster rule will be for 22LR. They can start from the low ready position.

Contact: Pat with any questions at 714-281-2830 714-281-2830 or by Email 3gun@coronasportsmensclub.com

A little about the match...

Match Description
The match is designed to test the competitor’s ability to effectively engage multiple targets using multiple firearms.

Competitors in the 3-gun match will engage metal reactive and paper targets at distances ranging from 16 Ft. to 200 Yds, using a combination of handguns, rifles and shotguns. There will be barricades, props and other obstacles for the competitors to maneuver or shoot around and through.

The competitors will be required to move short distances during the course of fire, but at no time will they be required to climb, jump, slide or descend down slopes.

The scores will be based on composite times, with time penalties for misses on single shot targets or hostage hits. Comstock scoring may be used depending on the course design and scenario.

The course will be new shooter friendly, with easy targets, but will be challenging enough for experienced tactical shooters who want to “turn and burn”.

No problem. We are in the Lake Mathews area of Corona. We are a private gun club, not open to the general public, except on match days so we don't post the location. Please PM me if interested for directions. I also include my phone number and can arrange to lead folks in who don't want to risk getting lost the first time out. I can also answer questions for those interested.

No need. We are very new member/shooter friendly. Just come on out and we will guide you through the shoot. We even have a couple of junior shooters who shoot this course.

Corky's right. The match is very newb friendly. No one will yell at you or put you down. We're too busy putting each other down to do it to you. Once we get to know you, however you will get all the crap we give each other. Speaking of which.........Hey Corky! Try and remember this time, it's a THREE gun competition. Not two. Empty holsters, halfway through the stage are not conducive to winning! At least point your finger and yell BANG!!! BANG!!!! And don't forget to yell CLANG!!! CLANG!! So we score it a hit.

See what I mean???

they ain't lyin. I went to one of the pistol shoots that are held the first sunday of every month I believe, never done any type of dynamic shooting competition before, and got absolutely nothing but help and great feedback from everyone there. Had an awesome time, been wanting to go back, and plan on it as soon as my XD45 gets out of jail

I will try and get you some pictures of the event. Don't worry about having a particular type of firearm, this event is for people who just enjoy shooting. We won't attract any top gun shooters at this event as it is geared towards shooters that have standard gear, hunting shotguns etc. We specifically did not have an unlimited division as it was counter productive to our aims. At the last match we allowed unlimited, but they didn't have any significant advantage over the other shooters due to the round counts and stage designs.

Cork's right. Bring what you got. We'll let you shoot it more than likely. If not, we share. If you dont have something, come anyway and you can use mine. Just bring your own ammo.

Thanks Todd. I might hold off on coming up until you guys have a pistol shoot (I don't have a shotgun. Yet. ). I am quite interested, and have both Mini-14 and a M1A so rifle requirements are met. Yay!

Spectatin' might be fun, but whenever I go watch something THIS FUN (I am sure it is, ya?) I end up wanting to have FUN too.

IF one is able to borrow a shotgun up there, what ammo does one need??

Thanks for your help!
Kenny

Can we use steel cased .223 ammo (such as the Russian Tula stuff?) if we bring the Mini-14?

As long as tha actual bullet does not contain a steel core, penetrator or jacket (i.e. does not attract a magnet) it is OK.

Yes as long as it does not attract a magnet. Pistol ammo must be non-magnum.

What types of .223/5.56 ammo is most commonly used at your range?

I have PMC FMJ rounds. (not taking into consideration the magnet test)

Will it be accepted at your range? Any member currently using this ammo at your range?

Your PMC FMJ stuff should be fine. No jacketed hollow point or full magnum ammo is allowed as we shoot at steel. No steel core/armor piercing/incindiery/tracer stuff for the rifle is allowed. Just standard lead or FMJ is fine. If anyone needs to borrow a shotgun there will be my 870 as well.

PM me for directions.

The road to the range can get a little low rider unfriendly

As long as you are driving a regular car you will be OK. Vets, and other low riders probably will have issues, although one of our whooters regularly drive his Miata down there.

I see the info states 25 round min. for shotgun.

IF we can get up there and borrow your shotgun, how much ammo is enough for the beginner?

Pardon my FNG ignorance, are all Rem 1100's goiung to be 12-gauge? Or the 870? Is it also 12ga? Could a beginner try both, or will same weapon be required throughout the CoF (shotgun section)?

Thanks...trying to get our family schedules worked out to get on up there.
