Not fair

It seems to function flawlessly IMO, I am very happy with it. Of course I was happy to finally get my hands back on an AR again period! I've gotten to play around with them infrequently, but the best was at Twentynine Palms 12 years ago when I took to the range with a M16A2 and scored 5 perfect sessions on semi and 2 on burst.

Speaking of Carbon Fiber. I have an old Professional Ordnance Carbon Fiber upper with match grade fluted barrel. It fits on my registered AR and really cuts down on the weight.

I wonder if I should get the Vulcan CF lower for the PO CF upper. That should make the rifle weigh something like 1 pound.

This is going to sound really stupid but can you have a threaded flash suppressor on your AR-15 if the barrel is 16" or more and you have the fixed 10 round magazine?

not stupid, but then again, that is what the FAQ is for

if the mag is fixed, you can have flashsupressors/threaded barrels/pistol grips etc.

The military does it but I wouldn't want to do it with any of my toys. I'm not sure of any additional 'weatherizing' they may do though.

another one. DPMS bull upper. Negative so far is the upper isn't to spec, very hard to get the takedown pin in.

Default tight fit

The tight fit of the bull barrel upper is a good thing. Nice solid lockup between the upper and lower. A little tight is much better than a lot of slop.
I had a similar upper years ago that was a very tightly fitted on my Registered PWA lower. Made a very accurate rifle though.

dear head. stag lower.

and gunner, i'm with you on being tight, but this sucker is TIGHT. I'd be all okay for it but i have to undo the takedown pin everytime i reload. wouldn't complain much if it was a full functioning rifle.

right now the lower is from my original pistol caliber.

lower is very basic, stag, RRA single stage kit, stag butstock and a hogue grip. actually it also has the heavy buffer in there too. If I were you, i'd get a nice A1 stock, or the magpul stock (forget part number).

upper is DPMS low-pro upper (no FA), 24" stainless 1:9 barrel, free float handguards and some scope i should replace soon.

that's basically it! I'm in search for a bipod and i'm set.

NwG, that is freakin' sweet! It also answered the question I had in my mind about whether or not a 16 inch barrel would work with the rifle-length MRP. Thanks!

Very interesting.

How did you mount the 9 mm magazine in the lower. A fellow on the Sig Forum is mulling that now.

Here is my project, completed last night:
