Default Fresno Co. CCW holders

Is there a minimum caliber requirement?

Did you have to provide two character reference letters?

Thanks!

I didn't read anything about a minimum caliber. I really don't know if there is a minimum because all mine are .40 S&W. I did hear that Sheriff Mims is allowing off roster handguns and long guns on the CCW. Check out Calccw. I think that's where I read that. You should give them a call and ask.

No reference letters or residence verification (other that a drivers license) was required.

I don't know what off roster means but if its not Cali approved you will be denied... It must be a "legal" weapon registered to you or your spouse (No other family member). There is no caliber restriction but Im sure they will have some questions about rifles and such...

I started the process with my .22lr walther handgun and have had no questions asked about it. I do have my approval letter and just need to finish my CCW courses.

Shortly I will be a proud owner of a 9mm and that will go onto the list asap....

I just moved to Fresno. Is it very difficult to get a CCW in Fresno Co?

Ah, in the case of a new weapon purchase the gun must be on that list in order for it to be registered to you... if its not registered to you than there is no way it will be allowed on your rice paper.

The other side to that is, your gun doesn’t need to be on that list to be legally registered in your name... Something like moving from out of state or maybe a gun that you owned before the list came out (and has been registered to you by the DOJ)... I guess where I’m going with this is as long as the county deems it a fit carry weapon (Have to ask the department issuing the lic) AND its registered in your name/spouse you can put it on the permit.

I'm sure there are more ways to own a registered gun thats not on that list but those are the only ones that come to mind.

That list above only states what you are allowed to purchase new from this point on.... make sense?

The process is very stream lined but it always depends on your good cause and personal background (please dont post yours). But yes the county is more than willing to give you a CCW permit if you are a good citizen and have a good cause that they approve of....

this is where I got all of my info http://www.calccw.com/Forums/county-...no-county.html

and of course the county website (click on the link in the post linked above and select FAQs on the sheriffs site).
