Default Sneaking into shot show

Hey anyone know a good way to get into shot show? I've always wanted to go but I'm not in the industry. Anyone have an extra pass?

I've always wanted to go also, but am not in the industry either. I wouldn't sneak in, but I'm also curious if there are ways for those of us not in the industry to attend

there is only two forms of ID to sign up and get into shot show.

government issued with photo (ie driver license or passport)

and

Per shot show's faq (http://shotshow.org/wp-content/uploa...Validation.pdf)

Quote:
A letter of intent from an attorney or bank on official letterhead stating that you intend to start a business
directly related to the shooting, hunting or outdoor trade or the military, law enforcement or tactical markets
(this is acceptable for new businesses only)
get a lawyer to draft one, pool that cost between friends/anyone willing to go with you and bam you are in. and you can continue to do this every year and rotate the name used as "CEO" and business name and every year you can keep going in.

So with my drivers license and a "creative" letter from an attorney they will give me a pass right at the door? Did you happen to see the entry fee?

entry fee is $140 per person as long as you make yourself a buyer.

and also for someone wanting to get in, you didn't do any research have you?

you will be picked out instantly as bogus. remember they can still reject you at the door.

Please only do if legit. My son, who is a buyer for Howards TV and Appliances, told me due to people sneaking in to the CES convention the week before SHOT, it is often times difficult at some booths for a buyer to carry on a conversation with the vendor due to the amount of people playing the available electronic games. He told me there were so many who were obviously not connected to the industry playing video games at the Samsung booth that he had a difficult time conducting business with the rep.

One large electronic company does not even have a booth at the convention center anymore. They have rented a floor at a large and well known hotel and business is by appt. only. My son said that went smoothly. He was told that CES is cracking down on attendees and I suspect it would be the same for Shot.

Like most inside the trade shows, they are overcrowded with looky-loo's that have no business being there. They crowd the floor and stop ligitimate buyers from getting business done.

I wonder how many Calgunners got in that weren't legit? Probably a sizeable number.

Default Sneaking into shot show

There was a thread on this recently.. all you need is a hi-vis vest and maybe a hard hat. With that combo, you should be able to get into anywhere your heart desires. Possibly even a jail cell??

Threads like this are why "calgunner" has become a derogatory term.

If you are not in the industry you don't belong there. Don't worry the new 3%er patches will be out soon enough.

like only CG'ers try to sneak into SHOT. I've seen on many forums that same exact question asked.

i remember being at my local airsoft store years ago and listening to people trying to figure out how to sneak in with the store's help.

Shot Show isn't just for real guns. the airsoft guys are there too.

Dress in all black (not tactical, just t-shirt and chinos or cargos), carry a walkie-talkie and a clipboard, then walk in the loading dock door like you belong there. If security stops you, say you are part of the computer set-up crew, and you need to go to the service desk to get your badge.

That being said...

This. If you are not in the industry, then leave the reps alone.

Yup.
Wear black, a headset, no backpack, and you're with the lighting crew.

Stay away from claiming lighting/rigging/electricians/decorators...those are union gigs and getting over-heard claiming you are with a union is not a healthy choice.
