If you have any interest/questions about action pistol at Richmond, send me a message. I'm a Range Officer on the Action Pistol range there.

If you want input on what to get and why, post in the relevant forum (pistols, rifles, etc.). Unless you are rich, you want to make sure that you make a decent choice for your first gun. It helps to know what experienced shooters might think about your suggestions.

But remember that everyone has opinions, and some people's reasoning may not be applicable to you.

Greetings from Livermore.

Brand new to the Bay Area, looking to get involved in action pistol shooting (shot IDPA for a year before moving to CA).

Would love advice on a decent (prefer private) range with action pistol/multi-gun bays in the area. Don't seem to be alot...

The closest to you will be Richmond. A bit of a hike from Livermore (45+ minutes), but they have a dedicated Action Pistol Range and put on about 40 action pistol matches a year.

I'm in Castro Valley, and I've made that my primary range for competition despite the 35 minute drive.

Noggin here, San Jose. I'm almost 40, typical family guy/high-tech office drone. I do some playing guitar and mountain biking if I get time. I'm a history buff, do a lot of reading. Been shooting since I was a kid - it's always been a family activity for us. I like all types of shooting except maybe black powder. Like others have mentioned, I'd like to get into action pistol shooting.

Hi All,

Eric checking in. Live in San Ramon, work in the South Bay. Into things internet and motorcycles. New to Calguns.

Have been a relatively casual lifelong firearms enthusiast, but have recently been getting into it more. Have a few poly frame handguns, and a Mossberg pump. Looking into getting my first AR, as well as taking some active shooting classes, probably starting at Chabot and then frontsight.

If anybody wants to go shooting sometime, let's go do it.

Cheers

Figured it's time to do this....
I'm Tom. Retired local PD. Bought my first handgun at 18. Currently have a small collection of various guns. Just finished building my first AR-15, and am picking up an 80% lower. Would love to find a local milling party to finish the lower when it arrives. Anyone know of one?

Hello, I'm Bong Munoz. Only got back to shooting after a very long time. Working as a software engineer in Mountain View but live in Daly City.

My home range is Jackson Arms in South San Francisco but also enjoy the facility at Reed's on occasion. I look forward to completing the safe handgun competitor course so I can join IDPA matches. Currently using a Glock 17 as my game gun for SSP and considering my Springfield TRP for CDP. I eventually want to join 3 gun if I can figure out how to afford the practice ammo without taking out a second mortgage.

I can help out on the software side for any calguns/NRA/CRPA/gun rights projects.

If you figure that out, let me know.

BTW, if you have any questions about action pistol competitions at the Richmond range, let me know.

Thanks, Gryff. I'm taking the safe handgun competitor course out there on 4/21.

I just bought a lottery ticket. That's my how-to-afford-ammo plan for now.

mr. gillious

i love shooting my 1911 however 45 auto is kinda breaking the bank. So I bought a CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical in 9mm instead!

from south san francisco (shout outs to jackson arms, city arms, tabors, imbert and smithers, and golden gate guns!)

I am an auto technician currently servicing hybrid vehicles (mainly prius', altimas, and camrys). If you own a hybrid and need some work done I would be glad to help. Such things like replacing inverters, high voltage battery packs, engines and/or transmissions is something I normally do at work. maybe we can trade for ammo? heck... i'd replace a 2nd gen prius HV battery for 2,000 rounds of 9mm!

i also have the access to buy auto parts at shop prices instead of list prices =)

holla back

mr. g

Abe here,
Pretty new to the gun community. Learning a lot and diggin it. Figured out that I'm a rifle kind of guy. Marlin 795 , AR , 91/30 Sporterized Mosin (nothing that can't be reversed!) , 91/30 Mosin that I won't tamper with (lots of history marks on it) , and many more to come. Don't tell my wife!

Noticed a few of you like to play guitar. Well I happen to work for a pretty big local guitar string manufacturer. Hit me up!

Hi all,

Checking in from Livermore. I recently got into handgun shooting and bought a Ruger Mark III target. (Had an old 10/22, but I hadn't been shooting in many years.) I mostly shoot at Livermore Rod and Gun, sometimes down at Reed's in Santa Clara. Grew up in San Diego, moved to Livermore about 3 years ago after grad school in Wisconsin.

Hey,

Should have done this sooner,

Max is my name, I live in Albany in between berserkely and Richmond. Been into firearms since I was 18. I am at Chabot most Fridays with my wife and daughter. I am always down to share my rifles and handguns just for fun or if you are considering buying something and want to try it out.

At the moment I am attending COM to get my RN. I am really into all types of firearms and I also like mountain biking, PC and console gaming and have been building custom gaming rigs for longer than I would like to admit. I am a bit of a geek when it comes to home theatre, car audio/video, and cars. I dabble in all of it and know a good bit about all of the above and enjoy shooting the crap about that kind of stuff. I am always down to meet up at chabot so hit me up if u want to get together, the more the merrier.

Max

Hi to everyone as well,

Steven in Hayward. I haven't gone to a range in years and recently was inspired to get back into it. Recently just took basic handgun over at Chabot as well as getting my HSC. Debating on what is considered a good price for Glock -17...decision..decisions. Hoping to take additional classes as well as getting into rifles.

Regards,

Steven
