Default Checking in from South Sac County

Just want to check in with everyone. I am in South Sac County, and am interested in participating in local chapter activities. I am an avid hunter, bowman and 2A defender. If someone can point me in the right direction with a calendar of meetings, etc., I would appreciate it.

razorscs- closest thing you'll find to Pozo is the el dorado national forest. drop into a ranger station, get a map and a road plan to make sure you don't get a ticket for driving on a "closed road." pack your trash and don't shoot trees, even if it's already been shot thousands of times. Have a good back stop ("the woods" doesn't count) be safe and have fun!

Go Mustangs!

Alan - Folsom...

I'm a forensic SEO consultant (I figure out why web sites aren't showing up high enough in Google results...)

Vet - Army 79-82 Military Police

Been going to The Gun Range several times in the past couple months, and am looking to go out to forest land (Ice House for example) so I'm hoping to connect with others in the area who'd want to go have some kick-*** time shooting targets...

Smile Hi!

Just shot my gun for the first time yesterday. Here's the intro I posted on the "Welcome to Calguns!" thread:
Quote:

I just got my first gun, a Glock 19. I shot rifles in the Boy Scouts 2 or 3 times, but didn't touch a gun again for a decade. I've decided that I want to get guns for self-defense, before they make it harder again. (It sounds like we've been losing ground recently, other than the court ruling on CCWs.)
No one in my family shoots, and there's some anti-gun attitude from my mom, but she's starting to come around.

Things I'd like to learn:
  • Practical self-defense, and all the legal, ethical and other stuff that comes with it.
  • Safe self-defense gun storage. It seems like all the quick-access safes are either wimpy or can be opened with some trick.
  • How to buy used guns and accessories. How to know if it's in good condition and such.
  • How to make simple guns, if only to tell the gun control advocates that anyone can.
Maybe with DeltaVictor's help, I'll be able to make nice guns later! I've been thinking about getting into machining anyway. It would be so cool to make a 1911... Not yet, though.

[rant]
I wish they'd have an exception that lets you have any kind of gun you make by yourself. Trying to keep something from you by telling you not to make it is so dumb. All it does is keep us from making cool guns and saying 'Told ya so.' I'd be fine with them banning transfer of those guns, if just we could make them legally.
[/rant]

Now buying on Amazon via shop42a.com. Don't know much about the Calguns Foundation, but so far it sounds good.

Please don't get yourself arrested. It'll make the gun community look bad, and will likely prevent you from being able to legally carry, or possibly even legally own. Not that any of that will matter if you're in prison. Unless you're in a crazy dangerous area, there's no point in carrying before you get the permit.

Retired LEO, Civil War buff and rifle shooter (though I shoot those short things too.)
Reloading, brass man and work part-time as a RSO.
If it involves guns or shooting, I'm interested.
And yes, that's me shooting my cannon in my avatar.

Default Hello Everyone

I've been reading a lot of threads on here and have found a lot of good info on here, I mostly visit the LTC threads but happened to come across the Sacramento chapter. I recently received my CCW on Aug. 3 and have been carrying everyday since. I'm a member out at Sac Valley Shooting Center(Folsom shooting club) where I do my training. Its a great place and allows me to reserve and shoot on private ranges and get away from just static shooting.

I enjoy double doubles, double mint, and Double Dragon. Hell, I even cross my eyes cuz I enjoy double vision.

You can find me camping, the paint ball field and at the Ione range. ...Not hitting my target...

Hello Sacramento folks. Carmichael resident here. Now that I have 2 young kids to raise my first passion of racing and building vintage race cars has taken a bit of a backseat so have gotten back into shooting more for my recreation. I am currently compiling all of the parts for my first AR build (featureless to take advantage of owning a bunch of magazines from an AR that I sold before the assault weapon ban and because I hate the idea of bullet buttons!) Would like to meet up with some fellow AR builders and shooters to avoid newby mistakes. Thanks

Good morning. Checking in from the Tahoe Park area. JUST getting started on learning to reload for 9 mm. Advised during initial meeting I will be issued a CCW permit from CASO Sacramento.

I would appreciate any help with reloading, it is safe to assume I know nothing about it.

Regards.
