Thanks for posting such a great resource, Brass Balls. If it doesn't get stickered, I'll have to print it up for future reference.

I'd just add another FFL: Ten Percent Firearms. I'm in the process of getting a Kimber from Wes, and he has been great so far. Others have posted positive experiences too.

Very nice Brass Balls. Just out of curiosity, from your list, what would your ultimate 1911 consist of?

Thanks for kind words, you guys are great.

I'd guess that the best 1911 is one that is custom made to one's specs by an excellent gunsmith. I have yet to go that route. My favorite brand is Les Baer, although I also like the Colts, Kimbers, S&Ws, Springfields and Wilson that I feel lucky to have in my collection.

Thanks for the link to Ten Percent Firearms. I added them to the list.

B.B., I've got a Colt 1991A1 at Yost-Bonitz getting the 1* package done to it. I'll let you know how cool it is when I get it back.

May I suggest another category?

How about gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com?

I know there's a 3rd one that I can't think of...

Thanks for the great thread B.B.! Being a new 1911 owner these links are already proving invaluable. I'll send you a bill for all the accessories I never knew I needed 'till I clicked on the links you provided.

I was mostly just looking for a reason to bump this thread to the top. I did notice that you have John Jardine's gunsmithing link listed, but not the pistol he designed for Valtro.

Thanks guys. The list is growing. I just added Valtro, Blackwater Training and Crimson Trace.

Dave I'm kinda on the fence about adding the forum since one has to register to view it, but I'm glad you posted a link here for folks to check it out.

I know that Promags don't have the best reputation, but they are pretty cheap. I have one, but haven't tried it yet.

I feel kinda greedy asking this after all of those links, but I don't suppose anyone out there has a manufacturer link to the Rock Island Armory.

www.gunexchange.com

For 1911's we're master dealers for Kimber and stock Smith & Wesson (I personally love the SW1911), Springfield, High Standard 1911's (soon)... and sometimes stock Les Baer, on file with Wilson and Robar as well as a number of other companies.... And we'll beat any local price on any in-stock or special order gun.

We also have a nice share of vintage WW1 and WW2 USGI 1911's.

We also stock Black Hills Ammo. ; )

Thanks jmaracing!

Unfortunately I'm not able to add those to the list above because it has gone over 10k characters, which is the post limit for this forum. This is a great forum and I don't intend to insinuate otherwise by posting this link for another gun forum, but I was able to add these and some others that I couldn't fit above to the link list here:
