Default Spikes billet upper and lower

I hadn't seen these mentioned anywhere yet, so I thought I'd post these up. I'm generally not a fan of Spikes, but that's only because I hate their tribal-spider-thingy rollmark. I do kinda like the "Flared sidewall to eliminate accidental bolt release" - looks cool and has some function as well.

Anyway, here are some pics and info!

Thought about posting it, but decided against it.

What is really cool, and I have always wondered why no one did it, is the lower doesn't use roll pins but screws. So it is truly a tool-less lower as far as putting it together. No hammering in rollpins! $500 though for the Seekins made upper/lower set.

I saw this on their site recently while browsing for some 9mm parts. Definitely looks pretty sweet -- am keeping it in mind for future possibilities.

Looks like $500 for the upper/lower set. Somewhat reasonable-ish considering that Knights and POF are the only other companies that make ambi-bolt release lowers (correct me if I'm wrong).

Yeah, I didn't even realize it had an ambi bolt catch/release until after I posted - that's also a pretty nice touch!

Not too bad I guess. I'm still figuring out the 80%ers right now. I have the jig ordered, and the lowers I am still trying to locate one thats not on back order.

I'm going to take a look at this lower at the Shot Show. If it feels like a winner in my hands then I may pick a set up. I've been torn since seeing this and the Mega Machine railed upper.

Heck... In the end I may have to do the only thing any sane man would do. Get Both!

Neat, but I like that I can slap the general area of the bolt release and drop the bolt closed. I would want to slap and have it fail to disengage because of a "feature".

Otherwise looks very nice.

I wish these lowers and uppers were sold separately.

I'd like to pick up one of the lowers, but I'm not going to shell out for a complete set since have no need for another upper.

I'm not on a Press Pass, so hopefully SMGlee will take a ton of photos with the Spikes setup featured.

I noticed in the pictures that the upper receiver is not marked. I truly hope the final production models are marked with either the "spikes tactical" brand name, the spider or biohazard logo.

I like my pieces branded if you are going to call it a matched set.

I hate the spider that is why I did not ever buy there stuff... But this billet set up with just a name and NO spider I would buy one for sure.

Huh? YOu just sell a basic forged upper for a billet one... Billet is waay cooler looking. When I start to make uppers and lowers with the 07 (when) I will do billet as it looks killer.

Seesm, they have less expensive forged lowers with no spider.

Great looking designs!

This is the push in the industry we need to update the looks of the AR uppers and lowers.

I saw this one the site and it looked pretty nice, but Mega is also coming out with their monolithic upper, so.... ??!!

Decisions, decisions.

I know a lucky vender here that has the set in a rad anodized dark brown they are super nice and fit is awesome. I am also one who dont care much for the spider. But I would rock this setup for sure.

I'm eagerly awaiting seekins to come out with the seekins precision branded lower and upper. I'd rather get his gen 2 lower along with an upper from him than from spikes. Nothing against spikes.

I'm pretty sure (99%+) these are simply Spike's marked but cut by Mega. Does anyone have a firm confirmation on that?

You're right... I know seekins made some other stuff for them last year - and Mega did too.

Spike's has used everyone - sometimes several at once. It's hard to keep up.

Seekins does good machining work, too.

Here's the link.
