I think the extended rail you want is a vltor product:http://vltor.com/socom.htm

but it says that it is licensed solely to springfield armory. You could call springfield and order the rifle you want direct.

I have the UltiMAK rail on my SOCOM. You can get them for under $200.

Ultimak rail ROCKS for installing a Scout Scope or red dot --

If you want side rails, etc.,, get the Spingfield loaded or Socom II models --

Call Rettings in Culver City CA they had a bunch with extended cluster rails (yes, which are made by VLTOR only for Springfield) and I saw a couple in Gun World in Burbank on Magnolia. They are going to cost between $1800 and 2K. I think FOrt COurage Armory in Simi Valley also has one an consignment there.

Does anyone know if Springfield sells the cluster rail that comes on this M1A?
http://www.springfield-armory.com/as...ory_MA9827.pdf

If so, how much is it?

Only ON the gun when you buy a LOADED or SOCOM II

They WILL install it on your gun is you are willing to have your wallet pulled out through your urethra. Ie., it is not worth it cost wise. sell your non rail gun and buy a whole extended cluster rail gun. BTW, it is only the EXTENDED cluster rail that allows you to mount a regular rifles scope over the action.

Wow, you were right.. I emailed them and they gave me the pricing..

The cluster rails are available for purchase at this time. Based upon an agreement with the rail system manufacturer, we cannot ship them out, but we are able to install them for customers, the costs are as follows:

Standard Cluster Rail $399.00
Extended Cluster Rail $469.00
Installation fee $ 50.00
Shipping fee $ 25.00

We do need your rifle with fiberglass stock so we can properly fit the rail system. Simply contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-680-6866 for information on how to ship your rifle back to us
Nearly $550 for the extended rail

Wish I was rich

Downside to the Troy rail is you can no longer use your iron sights. I think you actually have to remove the entire rear sight assembly.

Default Extended rail

Depends on what you want to do with the extended rail. If you just want to mount a scope forward of the receiver, buy the Scout model rifle that comes with the forward pic rail. This is what I did. Tastefully done and doesn't have the overdone PIC configuration of the Socom or Socom II.

I had no need for the side, let alone bottom PIC rails and also wanted the 18" barrel, so the Scout was perfect for me.

Gunbroker.com is a great place to see what they're going for. That's where I recently got mine.

Regards,

John
