for 556/223 , I would take Daniel Defense.
Never owned any Sig rifle or Ruger . I remembered someone post some issue they had with Sig 716 before.

First decide what caliber you want, then choose a rifle. You do realize the 716 DMR is .308 right? For a 556/223 pattern AR I would go DD hands down.

I own a 716. I purchased mine early last year. First trip out was full of feed issues. Reluctantly, I sent it back to sig and it came back running perfectly. Mine was an early version. I think they've addressed any production problems by now. At the price point, you can't beat the sig - especially if you take advantage of Sig's $200.00 rebate (ends 7/31.) I've seen some amazing deals on the 716. I'm so happy with mine, I'm now looking to add a 516 to the herd.

Ruger and Sig just don't have the attention to detail or care about the little things the way Daniel Defense does. It is by far the superior brand.

I'd go with a Sig 556. Much better than an AR.

the Sig 556 is NOT better than an AR. it is front end heavy and not anywhere near as modular. between your 3 choices get a DD

Default Sig sauer, Daniel defense, or ruger ar's.

It's no more front heavy than a piston AR. In fact my Sig 556 Patrol (no quad rail) weighs less than my AR (Yankee Hill Lightweight Carbine). And if you get one with the rail you can put all the same tacticool crap on it.

a big downside to the Sig 556 vs an AR is that it is proprietary so if a key part needs to be replaced you might be SOL

Default Sig sauer, Daniel defense, or ruger ar's.

Spare parts are easy to find and Sig has a lifetime warranty. And piston ARs have hard to find proprietary parts.

YHM makes the heaviest stuff on the market plus Sigs are also know to not be the lightest weapons.

The Sig 556 weighs less than most piston ARs, 7.5lbs for the Patrol. By comparison the Daniel Defense M4V4 which is direct impingement weighs in at 6lbs 7.7oz. And that's without any sights installed. The Sig is not heavy by any means and the piston system probably weighs 2lbs.

Did I say that? No. Just pointing out that a comparable AR is also proprietary.

I would go with Windham over those choices.

DD makes good stuff. Perhaps you consider ASA as well if you want a 5.56 carbine.

Of those you listed, DD is the best quality. Also take a serious look at BCM, as you get more bang for your buck and the same level of quality.
