Tried to keep things simple, DPMS Levang Linear muzzle brake, Hammerhead grip, and used the zip tie technique for the stock, two for good measure.

Default Thordsen Custom

Hey guys, I just got my new Thordsen Custom stock and I couldn't wait to put it on. I really think it looks great and now I can finally use my Hi cap mags.

Nice work on this Thordo!

that is an awesome looking rifle...the total layout of your rifle blends perfectly...I have to admit when first I saw your rifle I thought it was a featured bullet button rifle, then I reckonized the thordsen stock, then I said "whoa", that`s sweet. give us a range report with pics.

Might go with a carbine buffer off the grip after I shoot it.

You can put the web of your thumb and index finger below the top of the trigger opening....so it is a pistol grip.

Here is my first featureless, just finished it. I need to get it to the range to see if I can get use to the grip angle. Decided to take a KISS route with this build.

Incorrect.

This stock meets all the requirements necessary to be used in a featureless configuration.

-Non pistol grip
-Non thumb hole stock
-Non adjustable

This stock is more of a traditional hunting rifle style. If you go to the Thordsen website they have a letter from the CADOJ.

From their website...

Quote:
Working within the guidelines set forth in a letter from the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms, Thordsen Customs LLC (with guidance from legal counsel) has determined that the FRS-15 stock, when installed on a semiautomatic center fire rifle with NO OTHER RESTRICTED FEATURES listed in California Penal Code 30515(a)(1)(A-F), DOES NOT meet the definition of an “assault weapon” and therefore may be configured with a detachable magazine.

I'm very happy with my featureless rifle, I've now used it in 3 carbine courses and have found it to work great for my needs!

I haven't tried the Thordo stock yet, so take it for what it is worth.. but I have tried plenty of other FL grips for ARs and IMHO the Hammerhead is the only way to fly, maybe a SCAR too, I'm working on that one.

I dont like BBs at all..

Took most of the extras off this rifle, much lighter now.

Battlecomp is questionable on featureless build as it advertised as to have a flash hiding capabilities

Hmm is anyone using the magpul fixed carbine stock with a hammer head. I'm curious to see if it will have enough clearance to hold it without being all awkward and uncomfortable.

I'm enjoying mine. I'm 5'6 though with a small arm length, so it works fantastic for me. Its my go to rifle at the moment. I've let a few others shoot it who felt the stock made things a bit short for them though.

Nice featureless carbine; I was going with the grip wrap instead for my next build

Does anybody have an ARAK 21 with an FRS-15 stock? I'd imagine there would be some weird looking combinations to be had without the need of a buffer tube.

The ARAK 21 upper is irrelevant. The lower receiver is still a standard AR so a non functional carbine buffer or pistol tube can be attached to use as a cheek weld. We talked to the ARAK reps at shot show last year and will visit them again in two weeks.

Woah, the man himself. Thanks for making a good product, Thordo.

I know that the ARAK 21 would work with the FRS-15 stock, but I was just wondering if anybody have taken off the buffer tube and replaced it with a plug, and how it would feel to shoot it like that.

Gotcha!! We haven't experimented with that but I'd imagine it's not very comfortable. It would definitely make it harder to maintain a sight picture, irons especially. Could possibly put unnecessary stress on the shooters neck since there's no support from the BT.

You dont want to do that. No cheek weld at all.
For a laugh I pulled the stock from my Scar and put on the FRS.
Not an ideal setup without a tube
