Default My first AR!

Started the 10-day wait on a M&P Sport 2. I've never even fired a long gun before. I figured i might as well grab one since CA laws seem to only get worse with time. I look forward to acquiring knowledge on this site about the best upgrades to add and what not.

Best upgrade and a must is Bipod with integrated laser.

J/K.... good looking rifle. It's a good thing for people buying rifles, especialy "black" ones in todays CA. We need more in #'s.

You rock! Nice buy. You chose wisely too. I also say . . . get a good Ergo grip for $20 and a better trigger. They make a big difference.

I love to see posts like this . . . "It's my first . . . ." Love it and welcome aboard!

I've got one just like that sitting at my LGS waiting out its time.

I've got quite a few guns, but this will be my first (and probably only) AR. Enjoy!

Same here, first and only. Does anyone have any recommendations for an affordable safe that can hold one AR and two handguns?

I would Start with some ammo, a sling, and a couple extra mags. The magpul rear sight is good in my opinion and doesnt need to be swapped out. Next thing would be a decent optic and then maybe some kind of light and mount. Im a big fan of the vortex sparc II but the primary arms micro dot is a great value.

While it's not a "safe" a Stack-On cabinet is a good and cheap purchase.

Invest in a red dot sight or magnified optic and as much training as you can afford to purchase.

I picked mine up yesterday and headed off to the range. The sights were right on. I can see that my old-man eyes are going to be the limiting factor when it comes to distance shooting with open sights, however. I'm on target with every shot, but six-inch groups aren't anything to write home about. Time for more practice and eventually I'll probably have to swallow my pride and get an optic.

Thanks! I've seen those 'featureless' rifle pics. The handle looks weird, not sure if getting rid of the bullet button in lieu the weird grip would be worth it.

On the gun, lighter trigger and good optic. Outside of the gun, buy a 500 or 1000 round case of something 5.56/.223 from place like sgammo.com and plenty of range time.
