Question Semi-Auto .338 Lapua Magnum rifles?

Anyone have a recommendation for a semi-auto in .338 Lapua?

I am aware of one company.

http://www.vigilancerifles.com/

Rather pricey at "VR1 Semi-Automatic Rifle $7875"

But I am sure the quality is up there.

Years ago - maybe 5 years....I was invited into my buddy's garage. He opened up his safe and showed off not one but TWO semi auto .338LM rifles. Both had camo paint jobs. I can't recall for the life of me what brand they were, but I'm dying to know.

They were nothing like those vigilance ones. Looked more like an AR on roids or REPR style.

Can it be the RND Edge rifle? They have a few AR style rifles chambered for large calibers.

I'd be more concerned with the quality of the rifle than the looks.

I just said they looked better, not to buy one Besides I think they were bought out by Bushamster anyway and no longer exist.

Personally I would not get a semi in such a large caliber, you will loose the inherant accuracy a bolt action platform would provide for you....

The only two rifles I would consider in 338LM is an AI AWSM or a DTA SRS, which seems to be getting very good reviews as of late.

you'd think Barrett would make a semi- in the .338 Lapua Magnum. Anyone know why they don't?

Barrett would rather push their 416 round.

The 416 is a far superior round, more like a 50BMG..........My 378 Weatherby is more powerful than the 338 Lapua.

RND is pretty much the way to go for exotic big calibers not offered by barret in semi auto thats sorta based on the AR platform. I havent seen what has been going on with them for quite a while and currently there is maintainence going on with the web page but I remember the rifles being every bit as costly as the barret 50bmg a couple years ago when i first stumbled across them.

I remember seeing a couple of rifles done by vigilance rifles and wasnt too impressed with the platform. I cant remember the relation to EDM arms either it was a spin off of bills or a partnership or something of that nature.

.338LM in semi auto, I don't see the practical application unless the fabled bear cavilary was charging.
