Default Best Places to Buy Ammo in San Diego

I know Walmart is the best choice for cheap ammo, but I can't seem to find one that stocks any. Anybody know where to buy cheap ammunition in SD?

Honestly at this point the cheapest would probably to buy it off the back of someone's van.

I'd say Turners or maybe Socal Gun.. They have the fairest "market value" prices I think.

Everywhere is expensive though.

EDIT: You really might wanna get what you can off the Internet while you still are able to. I just got 500rds of 9mm from Cabelas for 110 bucks..

Here are some decent prices on 9mm..

Walmart is the cheapest. I go to the ones off of Palm Ave, Aero Dr, or Shawline in Clairemont. Remember, not every Walmart carries ammo. Check the "Wal Mart Ammunition - San Diego" thread (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=144886) for stock updates.

Online ordering would be your next best bet. I don't believe that San Diego has any shipping restrictions regarding ammo. I order ammo all the time.

If you really need ammo now and don't mind getting overcharged for it, then go to the gunshops or Turners.

But nothing is cheaper than reloading your own ammo.

SoCalguns always seems to have ammo. Their price floats with market prices.

As others have said, there is no "cheap" ammo in SD, with the exception of Walmart, which rarely has any.

In North County, Duncan's is outrageous, so you can skip checking there. Iron Sights is a little cheaper, but still not a bargain.

I was at Turners on Saturday (Montiel Road in San Marcos location) and their ammo supply was pretty thin. They had a few boxes of magtech 45 ACP, a few boxes of Fiocchi 45 ACP, probably 5 cases of 9 mm (can't recall which brand), and a fair amount of 22. Their prices are on the lower end for the SD area, but still no bargain.

As others have said, a gun show may work out for you, but mail order may be your best bet. Even with shipping, if you find the right deal, you'll probably end up money ahead compared to buying locally.

I have not bought any ammo from these guys, but I have heard that they are fair with the pricing.

Although their main thrust is lead bullets, they also reload at the facility, they have about 6 - 7 Dillon 1050's on the line.

Redline in the Grantville area, just down the street from the Home Depot on the east side of the street, behind the Porche dealer. Talk to Alphonso. From talking to Alphonso, I believe that they also have a facility in the South Bay somewhere.

SPX-Your corrrect about Duncan's. Until AB-962 takes effect in 2011, Internet is the best bet. I've had good luck with LuckyGunner.com and Cheaper Than Dirt. CTD isn't cheap, but had what I needed in .40 cal. The new Dick's Sporting Goods in Carlsbad will not carry arms/ammo.

I stopped by Turners off Clairemont this weekend. I wasn't impressed with their prices, it was on par with what I could get anywhere else.

I'd much rather buy online... a few bucks really doesn't seem like that much... but multiply that by a few thousand rounds and it begins to add up.

Project 2000 Shooting Range, has some of the best prices on both ammo and firearms that I have seen, in East County - off Dehesa Road... I found a web crawler online that finds in-stock ammo, one of the problems that I have found, ans it works really well, www.ammoengine.com
