Default 7.62x51 headstamp markings

I was given an ammo can full of 7.62x51 NATO rounds. The headstamp markings have the circle with a cross and PMJ 06. What does PMJ stand for? Without giving away too much info, Ive been told the "P" stands for something I may not want to have. Ive looked it up on google and Im thinking its a manufacturers code and not what my friend says it stands for. Thanks.

Can't recall what it stands for exactly but it's South Korean manufactured and supposedly quite good.

I didnt see PMJ on that list but that tells me that the PMJ marking is probably a manufacturerers code. Definatly not "PMC" for Peircing Metal Jacket like I was told earlier today. I was pretty sure my friend was wrong but I did get alittle worried. I dont look good in orange!!

Consensus seems to be the PMJ is another headstamp used be Poongsan Metal Corp. (PMC) of Korea on their recent U.S. military contracts. They also used the headstamp PSD on some of their recent U.S.G.I. ammo.

Correct, your ammo is not armor piercing, but armor piercing 7.62x51 ammo is perfectly legal to own and shoot in California.

OK, I'll save you the trouble. Here's a post I cut and pasted from The Firing Line:

Evening Ken,

I believe that PMJ stands for the Poongsan Metal Company (PMC) of Korea. I don't know for sure yet what the J stands for. It might designate the specific manufacturing ammunition plant. PMC has a contract to produce the ammunition for the U.S. Military, because Lake City ammunitions plant couldn't keep up with the war effort .
