Default Santa Barbara glass factory

We just had some prisoners clean up the range today (East Camino Cielo). Will be open after the next heavy rain storm.

Hoorah! Have to take a trip up there when I'm back in SB. Since when did they get prisoners to do the shooting areas?

Cool I have been wondering if it was open or not.
After the next heavy rain storm?? Looking @ the NWS no heavy rains soon just "A 20 percent chance of showers." on Thursday though. I have to get my SB buddies together and head up there when it opens.

Why is it called Glass Factory? I grew up in Santa Barbara back in the 70's to the early 90's, and knew it as East Camino Cielo.

It's must commonly called the "glass factory" because there's tons of broken glass up there. It's also called "lead hill," because the ground is literally covered with bullets.

Currently closed. Don't shoot there until it opens. D.A. will prosecute, due to all the recent fires.

Guys/Gals,

Try to inform your friends not to bring up JUNK to shoot.. Computers, Tvs, Printers, Fun to shoot I know, but it makes a mess and looks like hell.

I have been going to the Farmers Market when they are closing down and asking for bad fruit. Usually the farmers will give for free or for really cheap. Fruit is fun to shoot (explodes) and is biodegradable.

SHOOT FRUIT!

Ventura Star
It appears it should be open now

Fire restrictions in the Los Padres National Forest have been lifted Monday after snow and rained dampened the mountains.

Prohibitions on smoking and target shooting also were lifted.

From the 101 take the 246 exit towards Solvang, make a right on the 154 towards Santa Barbara, then exit east camino cielo. Follow that road for about 20 minutes...you'll see the shooting range and shooters off to the left of ECC.

trying to convince the wife to come up with me this weekend - weather allowing. We havent been into Solvang in like 3years and were going to cruise down and hang out with the pooch all day there either saturday or sunday. Whichever weekend day it is not us in Solvang, im going up to the Glass Factory.

I'll update this thread closer to the end of the week. Re "clean up" i just generally bring a garbage bag / couple grocery bags and a dust pan and just fill up on whatever people leave. Good / bad brass / trash, etc...

The glass factory is on East Camino Cielo. The turnoff for East Camino Cielo is at the top of HWY 154, above Santa Barbara. Follow East Camino Cielo all the way to the range (you can't miss it).
