So I'm hoping I can make it... what should I bring myself? Drill bits? What kind? made out of what material? Brand recommendation? Dremel bits? I just remember the last time, I didn't have any of that stuff.

Will any of the attendees know how to drill a gas port? I've got an AMD-65 kit with a virgin barrel and think I'm in a little over my head.

Alex, looks like I can attend (now like 95% sure). Can we pay you with Gunpal instead of Paypal?

I dug out my park tanks today. I have three stainless steel buffet pans that measure inside 11.5" wide x 19.5" long x 6" deep. They will do the barrels and the recievers seperate but not a barreled reciever. Unless someone has better tanks They will be there along with a blast cabinet, dremal. I can also bring a small drill dress if needed and a large easy up shade awning.

Alex,
Let me know if your Gunpal account is working. It shouldn't take long to confirm.
Well, looks like I'll be building a Romy I also have a 1/8 inch number/letter stamp punch set (works well for adding a serial number, etc) a dremel, and will probably pick up some drill bits to bring.

If anyone is heading up there from the LA/Ventura area, let me know and you can take my new tank up to the BP.

Ok so some news about gunpal. I am not going to be using it at the moment. Just yesterday I went to my online banking to make a transfer and found a fraudulant charge pending. Appearantly someone got my number and tried to make purchases on bluefly dot com for around 800 bucks. Everything will be taken care of but now I am stuck with waiting for the money to post, and get a new card etc etc. Just a pain. I don't use my card for many things online but I made my acct with gunpal about two weeks ago and just added my checking acct 2 days ago. The next day, this happened. I'm sure this is probably not connected with gunpal, and I don't want you to be weary using them. I've sent money with gunpal already for a purchase thru cg and it worked fine. Long story short. The card I had on file with gunpal is closed as of last night. And I am considering closing my existing bank acct and opening a new one. This sucks, because I really want to use gunpal in the future. I hope my card is here before the weekend(going to Reno!)

Sorry to hear about your account info getting out Alex. Sounds like your bank is being very cool about it. Good luck.

Bummer. Thieves...the worst kind of people there are. Anyhow...hey Alex, you can count me in. Ill be there. Just send me a PM and I'll send you the payment as well.

I just want to make sure. So in terms of parts I would need
1) AK Parts Kit w/ Trigger group and pistol grip (4 922r compliance parts)
2) Receiver flat (Is it better with the cuts lasered in or not? and is tapco good for a Romy G kit?) (1 922r compliance part)
3)AK Rivet Kit
4)AK center support
5)Duracoat, gunkote?

As for the receiver flats...what do you guys recommend? Talked to the guy at AK builder...he recommends his over the tapco ones...although he did say it was slightly more work. Says some holes need to be reamed. If I bought this one, it would work fine with a Romy G kit right?
http://www.ak-builder.com/index.php?...oduct_id=29823

Where do you recommend I get all my parts and such btw?

I also have a cheapie dremel but will do the work so Ill bring it.

Kind of a newb at this thing...so any tips would help.

Oh also, when you're done building the gun, how does the registration/legality issues work? Do we have to put on a certain serial number and you register there? And also do we have a 10 day waiting period as well? Thanks!

ak builder is all ive used. only built 2 but they are very nice. Its true its a little more work but hey whatever. Never tried tapco but i hear akb is better. sounds like youve got the parts down. go ahead and hit up duraglock. Let him know what you need. Im sure he can get it, if not he will point you in the right dir.

once you build, thats it. its your gun, although you are free to leave it with me if you want

If you get a chance you should read up on the "sticky" in this forum about ak building. there is some good info. maybe get a scriber for your dremel then you can make up a serial number and put it on your receiver along with where you built it.

im sending you a pm right now.

thx

You mind bringing extra flat and center support for me? I would like to bend another one after I rivet, park, install and pin the barrel of my first kit. I have a second kit that need a receiver. Both are already demilled. Thanks

I was at a friends house and saw that he had a 12 ton press. I'll be bringing it to the build party. I may need to bring some of the tools over the day before so we won't have to mess with them the day of.

Bob,

I'm going to want pictures! Also, what kind of furniture were you thinking about? If you're thinking plastic, I recommend the K-VAR NATO length stock and I really like the Red Chevy Man handgaurds.

Alex, I have a truck but if I can bring it over in the afternoon before, we can spend more time building.

CSACannoneer, I'm planning on the Croate Dragunov stock. I have the handgaurd but will wait until after Christmas. My wife is already upset at how much I spend on gun parts exspiecally with the other build I'm working on.

Did you start the one with multiple barrels? Or, is this something I don't know about? Also, don't get rid of your Romy wood unless you get a few bucks for it. It's getting harder to find original lower handgaurds that still have the dong intack.

That's the one! But it is a lot more work than an AK, it will be a multi year project, so don't get to worked up yet. My brother and I are each building one. I'm still collecting 10/22 barrels (blued), between my brother and I, we will need 20 if I don't screw any up recontouring them. Still, I have started making parts. When it is done, I'll meet you in the middle and bring it to a match in Coalinga and let you have a chance to shoot it.

I'll see if I can dig up any 10-22 barrels for you. I might have one or two around.

hehehe python is my security! dont mess with him! jj As for reno, im headin up in the a.m. =) the inlaws im leaving behind hehehehe

I realize there are a few of you who are new to calguns. First of all, welcome. I know a few of you that are green were referred by Duraglock/solartactical, and that is great. I trust his judgment and if you were not to his knowledge I'm sure he will let me know. All the guys I have met at the bp's I went to were real cool group of guys. Ive found that most of us calgunners have a lot in common ... when it comes to our hobby =) All I ask of the newbies is that if you come to the bp, have respect for one another, dont f up the track record! Its nice to be important, but its important to be nice.

Heh, it was my first post even though I registered over a year ago. Just not a very talkative person on most forums.

I bought 3 packs of miwall .40sw reload. =( thats it. there was LOTS of collector stuff. not as much ebr stuff as I would have liked. lots of mags I wanted to take advantage of, but prices were crazy! I tried to find ak parts for the party in case some people needed some stuff and duraglock ran out but one guy was charging 25 bucks for a tapco ak47, flat 25 for rivets!! dearched everywhere for parkerizing solution, but found none. guess I have to order on line.=( it was still cool though. good news, I was down 200, then tried a penny slot and won 427 bucks.....thats when I quit and walked away and went to sleep a winner,.......then in the morning woke up and lost 200 lol hahaha well at least I broke even! btw thanks for the bump hehe
