Angry How does someone get guns back from a police department?

I searched around, found some success stories, but no real instruction on how they got the PD to release the firearms.

Long story short, a buddy of mine had a TRO and it got dropped because the judge finally realized all the claims were false do to a nasty break up / custody battle.

Right now the PD (Antioch or Brentwood) in contra costa county is giving him the run around. He has now gotten 2 letters of approval from the DOJ to retrieve his firearms, but the PD doesn't call him back within that window and he has to get a new DOJ form for the 3rd time.

What can legally be done to make the department work faster so he can retrieve his firearms and stop giving him the run around? Who's name/number does he have to get, what questions need to be asked when submitting the next letter?

Thanks in advance and,
ETA: Please keep on topic!

See if it's faster for him to get a court order and if it is, that.

Based on that link, as long as the form is presented within 30 days, it shouldn't matter how long the PD takes to process the request. It also does not say the possession of firearms must be taken within 30 days of request.

Besides, that has been done twice now.

Please email me at hoffmang at hoffmang.com and we'll get the PD to stop giving the run around.

I suggest getting some legal help to get your property back.

The police will make it as hard, expensive, and difficult as possible for you to recover your firearms. They do this to try and get you to "give up" and let them destroy your firearms. They want all guns out of the hands of civilians and this is one of their tactics to that end.
