Default Nordyke feed

So, I am at fs00008's house right now watching MoscowZero and I have just decided that I will be offering Twitter and Tumbler updates for Nordyke. Info is on the right hand side of my Blog. Both services will be the same as I post to them simultaneously from ping.FM.

For those of you that have me on Facebook, I will be posting there as well.

For all those attending tomorrow, I shall see you there!

CARRY ON!

Change of plans... Ping.fm is too flow for my rapid updating needs and therefore I am cutting out Facebook updates and just focusing on Tumblr and Twitter.

If anyone has any questions about the trial or anything, a Calguns PM will go directly to my phone (near instantly) and I can answer it on the Twitter/Tumblr feed. I will try to get to them as fast as I can.

My suit is ironed and I am friggin tired. I will catch you all on the flip side!

Just for proprieties sake, it might be a good idea for you to sit in the auxillary room. Having sat in a number of courtrooms, I know that judges don't appreciate folks tapping away on 'lectronic devices during session.

Indeed. They're generally not even fond of PDAs - everyone from my firm turns off all our gadgets as soon as we step foot into a federal courthouse.

I don't think we can do a feed from inside the courtroom directly to the cgn thread but I'm taking my laptop. Maybe we can do a thread from the Aux room if there is WiFi.

That is perfectly fine.

Posting from my Blackberry to CGN would take too long. I don't have a laptop like FS00008 does so yeah...

Now, if someone could integrate Twitter into a CGN page, THAT would be SICK!

hey Nate you may not be able to take your phone in to the court house if it has a camera. Fed Courts that is a no-no they made Nomadd leave his phone at the guard area when he went to serve jury duty.

You could just have a script check the twitter page and post updates into a thread.

However, it's just simpler for people to check twitter...

I don't think that applies to people attending the court. When you are a juror, you are sworn to silence, correct?

Any verification on this would be appreciated.

Public hearings just means they're open to the public; doesn't mean they have to allow camera phones.

I just did a skim through the Ninth Circuit's website and couldn't find any rules about camera phones. Anyone who is planning on live blogging from a BlackBerry or other phone with a camera may want to call the court as soon as possible in the morning before heading over, in case a change of plans is necessary.

If they prohibit it, I will just leave my phone at the door. All feeds can be acquired from Jason Davis and other guys then.

I will call the court in the morning if I can.

Yeah, I wish I had a more concrete answer. My firm doesn't practice before the Ninth Circuit very often (patent appeals all go to the Federal Circuit in D.C.), and the rules vary by circuit.

Yes, but given the number and frequency of public hearings, and that the public has a right to hear, wouldn't it be assumed that technology be allowed to give the public a view of something that is otherwise prohibitive from doing?

Ask yourself, do you want to risk pissing off the judges? Is it worth it?

Last time I was in the auxillary courtroom. It was fine and actually more comfortable than the main room There was more space, it wasn't as stuffy and I got to sit next to Redneck Shootist as he regaled me (and the unfortunate terrified LCAV folks sitting in front of us) of his plans to open a shop and start turning out AKs.

It was beautiful, Man.

Regarding camera phones, the Marshals will have some sort of box for us to put our contraband into. I don't know why the court prohibits them them or if they still do.

Please remember to be polite to the Marshals. They usually see 300 people in a month, not a day.

If I am not breaking any rules and can avoid pissing off judges, then I will be cool with that.

All you need to do is click the following link, and then hit your browser's reload button every now and then to see if there's anything new:

Now, if you want Twitter to send his Twitter posts (called "tweets") to your cell phone via text message, then you would need to create a Twitter account and tell it your cell phone number. However, just looking at his tweets manually is no different than looking at any other web page.

I still think that it's a fine idea to repost his tweets (or any other intel from the hearing) here, but following his tweets directly won't be hard.

I'm sure excited about this!

You can certainly use your laptop or blackberry from the cafeteria which should have the live feed. I've confirmed it has very good wifi.

Gene, will the Aux room have WiFi? I think that Nate and I would rather sit in the actual courtroom if possible.

If you can't get wifi and have a laptop + cellphone, then you can use this software...

Just make sure you have the data plan for your phone!

The likely set up tomorrow is this.

1. Main courtroom. Expect no wifi and a marshall may poke you if you use a keyboard while court is in. I'm going to bring a pen and paper to keep a note or two if I can get in.

2. Overflow courtroom. Less formal, but likely poor wifi coverage. Fair 3G. Quiet keyboard use is no big deal.

3. Cafeteria. Excellent wifi, least formal so keyboard use is really easy.

Sweet! Thanks for the breakdown Gene. What time are you planning on getting there? Nate and I are not 100% sure whether we will drive or Bart it but we are shooting to be there early.

We would both rather be in the main courtroom if we can get in.
