Default HUNTING PALOMAR MOUNTAIN

Anybody know any good spots off of palomar divide road to hunt? Talking about the NE side of the mountain. New to Cleveland National Forest so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thinking of deer hunting but I haven't found much info on the area. I haven't even been scouting yet but plan on it real soon. Not sure where indian flats is but I know when I tried to find a spot by driving up there I went way past warner springs and found nothing but no trespassing signs at every turn off. Is there any other roads to get back to the mountain besides Palomar divide road?

I know of a good spot (on paper) that a friend of mine showed me. its in between Alpine and Julian he said that that is my best bet to start looking for deer in SD county. If you want to know more or possibly head out for a trip let me know.

Default Hunting in Palomar Mountain - Turkey?

Hi Calguns members! Avid upland bird hunter looking for spots to hunt wild Turkey. Spring Turkey season opens in 11 days so I don't have time to make the trip from Menifee down to Palomar to scout. Any ideas? I've done TONS of research online, but you all know there's nothing good to be found without putting in the leg work! I have a bunch of spots known to have wild Turkey further south near Alpine / Mt. Laguna but I was hoping to stay a little closer to home. Anyone have any success in Palomar Mountain range? How's the terrain? Cleveland National Forest up by me is extremely rugged and nearly impossible to hunt! Hit me up when Dove / Qual season rolls around if you want to hunt some nice spots in the Menifee / Perris area.

Thanks

Jesse

I would be interested in tagging along. I'm new to hunting and would really like someone to teach me. I have everything I need including the hunter safety course. All I need to do is buy a licence. If you guys are hunting anywhere in San Diego county I would love to come with even if you want me to come without my gun to just observe and learn. I'm active duty aboard camp Pendleton.

I always wondered why no one ever gave hunting reports or gave out info on their hunting spots, but now I know why. All one has to do is look at the number of views for this thread.

2600+ in a few days.

If someone gave out a gps coordinate I bet there would be 500 hunters there on the turkey opener.

I am told you can now hunt coyotes on base as well. If you are active duty, I'd look at on-base opportunities - the game warden is up by trap and skeet range at Vado del Rio (Area 25?). Also, there is hunting at some of the other local military bases such as Vandenburg (pigs), China Lake, Ft Irwin, Twentynine Palms (chukar, quail) and Edwards (ducks, quail). Not sure if there are any deer or varmint opportunities on those bases

I am familiar with the game warden and base regs and plan to predator hunt as soon as the licenses roll over in June. Just looking for someone to teach me some tricks of the trade.
