Call the local DFG office and try to find a biologist who has knowledge of the area. Ask him/her about the deer population and what areas you should try. If they are receptive to hunters you could get some really good info. Thats what we used to do when going out of State to a new area.

My cousin Troy got drawn for X3B, I know the area fairly well as I have been collecting obsidian near Davis Creek for over 25 years. I also have an agate mine in the Cedarville area. The thing is I’ve never really looked for deer. My girl friend wants to dig needles, so I plan to do some scouting soon.
Lots of public land, but all the big buck stories seem to come from ranches in the area.
How close are you to X3B???
