I just picked up a new Garand, but not your regular run of the mill type of Garand.
This one is a "Navy match trophy rifle" I have run the barrel #'s and they match the CMP info. It is barreled in 7.62-not sleeved and is all NM parts. Receiver is late '45 springfield and barrel is 10-65 7.62mm Springfield. Looks like it has never been fired! Anyone ever see one of these? What is it's value? Thanks! |

The real problem is that now you have to buy another M1 because you know you'll never shoot that one.

I dont even see them listed in the blue book of gun values. The nicest variant of match rifles listed is 22 hundred. But that is for a gun not chambered for 308. I would like to see your rifle at one of our shoot and Q's someday. Nice find. I am glad you desire to shoot it. I am of the same state of mind. I wont buy a safe queen.

Thanks, ivanimal! Yeah, there's not too much info about them on the web either.
I am sending a letter off to the CMP to verify (hopefully) that it is a true Trophy rifle. I know the barrel is original SA 7.62 and the receiver is late '45. Stock has "correct" cartouches. What is a shoot and Q? |

During the summer we usually have a few barbeques at Chabot Gun Club or Richmond or wherever they allow cooking. We call them shoot and Q's. If you like I can have my FFL meet us there and tranfer................

ivanimal, thank you for the invite, let me know! and for the links!
I usually shoot down at Metcalf 'cause it's close, and occasionally at LAR&GC when it's too hot down there! Like to find a place with wide open space and unlimited range, but i dont think that's anywhere too close to home! |
