First--would we have to swap labor? A lot of the AG people should already be on our side. Farming folk have guns like they have hammers--it's another tool you wouldn't want to be without.

Second--would they want to support visibly when so many of their customers are interested in organic produce because they are, to be blunt, anti-gun vegan nuts? The left quits liking the Workers if the Workers don't say "yassa, massa."

Now for a completely different suggestion--what about having a fund-raising shoot specifically for women? Have a range day for the wives and girlfriends, and have the guys help out, load magazines, and the like. With as many people as there are who wish their girl would shoot with them more, this might be a win both ways. This would be pretty easy if we had enough people to get a private range at Burro Canyon and still raise money beyond costs to send to CGF.

I was going to say "and kids," but to some degree it probably works better if the audience is more focused. But a kid's range day would be fun too.

It would be easy to offer the NRA "First Steps" class for those who haven't shot before, if there is an audience for it. Otherwise, we just have fun.

I'll swap labor. I don't know crap about stringbeans, but I could easily bag and weigh them and at the same time ask if they were interested in CGN.

Hey wildhawker,

I don't see your email to send you a notice, so might as well post it here. I wanted to let you know I can help out in the eastern Kern country area (ie the other side of the Sierras). Very gun-friendly region, but could benefit from some outreach work. I showed folks out here how to build up legal OLL's, and one of those guys was able to convince a dealer to start selling them. Volunteering for outreach would just continue what I've been doing here already.

edit: ah now I see it. email on the way!

I volunteered and will volunteer again
Count on me in SF Bay Area.
CalGuns presence on gunshows was successful, but I felt a little bit like we were preaching to converted. As a next step it would be wonderful to get some action with people who are "sitting on the fence" and not gun owners yet.
In any case what we do is important and anything to advance gun rights is better that typing messages online

Farmer's Market are easy...rent space...bring table...put in your stuff. Hanford, Fresno, Visalia have weekly, very large markets, and most towns have mid week smaller event type markets. I see a mix of vendors at everyone of the markets I've ever been to, more than peaches and potatoes.

Anyone still doing sandwich board advertising?
Make up a couple decent looking signs and carry them through the streets with pamphlets or flyers in a pocket or tray.

Or 'Call Arnie to Veto AB 962'

By the way I just called and the line is busy

Hey, I'm available here in Oakdale, near Modesto. Contact me if there's something I can do. The owner of Oakdale Guns and Ammo is an enthusiastic Calgunner and perhaps we can work up some program for this area.
