Default California AR Noob! Help!

Long time lurker to the website, till I saw someone in San Diego walking around with a Calguns.net shirt on - I had to post.

My father and I are going to start up on our first AR purchase. I have been trying to use the search button to find any FAQs on what to buy, uppers and lowers that this fourm prefers, and so on.

For myself I am thinking about buying a Stag Arms Model 2 from landworldinc as my start out rifle. Its inexpensive, comparatively to building a LaRue, Bushmaster, etc. I can learn how to work in and out while having a decent basis to work off of.

Any tips for a noob like me? Sites to go read and educate myself?

- Thanks

Welcome to CalGuns.

Searching here will provide you with a wealth of information on OLL's - pay your nickel and take your pick.

Nothing wrong with a Stag for a starter AR - decent recreational rifle, good price.

The links provided have a lot of information - probably everything you could ask is covered in them.

Read through them and then start browsing various retailers. Nothing beats actually handling stuff - it helps make sense of what you read.

you have the right idea starting with a Stag as a basic rifle to learn from. i also have a stag, i am loading it up with custom parts though, that i will transfer to a new lower from Noveske or one of the other more expensive OLL.
