Paid the annual ransom to the state for permission to hunt doves again this year however, does anybody have any idea why the Feds (believe this is a federal program) not only need your name, address and drivers license # but, also your height, weight, hair color and eye color in order obtain the required H.I.P. stamp?
No "fee" for this stamp at this time however, I wonder how long it will be before they start charging us hunters to administer this program in the future. At least they don't require a SSN #.

I emailed the Dept. of Fish and Game regarding the need to collect this personal information and this is the response I received:
Hello Mark The HIP Survey form was patterned after the hunting license. I believe we can eliminate collection of additional information as you requested. I will keep your suggestion in mind and if possible, will redesign the form for 2006 so we no longer collect personal characteristics. P. stamp application require not only our name, address and drivers license # but, also our height, weight, hair color and eye color? I believe all this information is a bit intrusive and unnecessary if this program is only a small game harvest survey. Thank you, XXXX XXXXXX Not bad. Hopefully they won't require all the extra information next year.
