Default Hog hunting in Nocal (Bay Area)

All,

Don't flame me if this is a dumb question. From all my reading, it looks like it is very rare to see any hogs in BLM anymore. If so, do you guys know of any hunting ranch in the NoCal for hog?

With a wife and a toddler, I just cant justify to her in spending a 1k+ to fly to OK or TX for bacon.

Thanks.

In the NorCal area? I can't think of any. If by ranch you mean private guides there's plenty out there, just google it.
I think Tejon Ranch is the cheapest that i've seen

There is a guide service in Upper Lake (Lake County) that offers guided hog hunts. As far as I know they do well.

I've killed several hogs on BLM/NFS land in the past few years... in Norcal... you just have to know where to go and then burn up the boot leather.

There is one private place I know of in the Bay Area (mission hills area). The property owner let's my bro-in law's neighbor hunt for the boars out there since they destroy their property. One year, he asked us to help him clean them but we were busy. I plan on going the next time he goes out. Will an M1A be enough to knock them down?

There's a private ranch in the orinda/moraga area (think Saint Mary's College area?). Wish I could give you more info, but I found out about it from a co-worker that invited me out, but then a couple weeks later landed a better job.

Tejon does a semi guided bowhunt for $300. The last Ham Slam we did there with any weapon on the south side was $450, for unguided. The guys who had hunted the place before helped out the newbies.

Most guided 2 1/2 day hunts are going for $600 and more.

Deedy at Bryson Hesperia Resort is running a $200 unguided hunt deal. She's near FHL above Paso Robles.

There are other hog hunt operations in the north, Shasta Outfiitters is one I can think of.

It all depends on how far your want to drive and if you need a guide or not.

If you have a wife and toddler find a place with a nice cabin/ house to stay in. You migh pay 800 bucks or more . but if you get a nice 3 day getaway with all your meals cooked and can fish and screw around on a beautiful ranch its worth the money.
