Nope, but you *Probably* still cannot discharge one in SF, especially to kill a precious rat.

I would put that in the category of "entertainment purposes only". Why not a single shot, if you could get away with it?

Nice. Blow up an aerosol can in a pond. Nothing environmentally irresponsible there.

From the SF Municipal Code on weapons (source):
Quote:
SEC. 4501. DEFINITIONS.
The following words and phrases, whenever used in this Article, shall be construed as defined in this Section:
(a) "Firearm" means any device, designed to be used as a weapon or modified to be used as a weapon, that expels a projectile by the force of an explosion or other form of combustion.
(b) "Projectile weapon" means any device or instrument used as a weapon which launches or propels a projectile by means other than the force of an explosion or other form of combustion with sufficient force to cause injury to persons or property. A projectile weapon shall include, but not be limited to, air gun, air pistol, air rifle, gas operated gun, BB gun, pellet gun, flare gun, dart gun, bow, cross-bow, slingshot, wrist rocket, blow gun, paint gun, or other similar device or instrument.
(Added by Ord. 89-94, App. 2/25/94)

SEC. 4502. DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS AND FIRING OF PROJECTILE WEAPONS.
It shall be unlawful for any person to at any time fire or discharge, or cause to be fired or discharged, any firearm or any projectile weapon on or into any street, highway or other public place within the City and County of San Francisco.
(Added by Ord. 89-94, App. 2/25/94)
So, yeah, the city will have a bit of a problem with your buddy using a full-auto BB gun.

Looks pretty neat, I like how it hooks up to a larger air cannister for more shots. Better than using the smaller 12 gram CO2 powerlets.

That says public place.

Discharging your "projectile weapon" will be legal indoors or your yard.

Keep it in your back yard or house and you're good to go.

I like how even a wrist rocket is mentioned. What would Dennis the Menace do?

SF has a more liberal law than LA, Irwindale, etc., and many other cities where the simple firing of even an airsoft gun is a misdemeanor no matter if you do it in your own backyard.

I think it's funny that SF has a (small) archery area in Golden Gate Park. It's a shame the dirty hippies don't wander around there from the stoner hill.
