Question Deactivated Off-Roster Gun DROS-able?

There is a fairly well-known movie prop gun that uses an old revolver as its base. The revolver has been deactivated by the propmaker through:
  1. Removal of firing pin
  2. Welding over firing pin holes in hammer
  3. Welding over firing pin hole in frame
  4. Removal of barrel
  5. Replacing original barrel replaced with "dummy" barrel with no bore on cylinder end

I THINK the dummy barrel has been pinned or welded to the frame.

If someone in California buys this, must it go through and FFL and can it be DROS'd since the revolver is not on the roster? Or, is the item considered a paperweight and not subject to FFL/CaDOJ processing?

Well if it has not been cut into three pieces and has a serial number on it,than it is still a gun and has to go through DROS for transfer. If not on the roster it can still be transfered through PPT transfer.A lot of old military rifles are made into drill or parade rifles by drilling and plugging the chamber and welding the bolt and other things to make it not shoot, but they are still considered firearms....
