Default C&R Response Time

How long does it usually require for the feds to ship the C&R application forms?

Is there some form of e-mail confirmation?

I requested the forms about 2 weeks ago and haven't received them nor an email confirmation.

some people waited months to get forms, and had to order them multiple times. Some got lucky by calling a ATF branch office and getting them shipped from them.

It was so bad that a Calgunner scanned the form and made a fillable PDF for use. It worked for a couple people and then ATF put the brakes on that saying that it had to be submitting on the approved form.

Hi, all. I'm a newbie here. FWIW, here's my chronology:

- Ordered the green forms on-line on 5/22/09
- Got impatient, sent the PDF download form via snail mail to the Dallas Office on 6/4/09
- Letter returned to me unopened on or about 6/13/09 (envelope marked "RETURN TO SENDER", "REFUSED", "UNABLE TO FORWARD").
- Green forms received in the mail from Springfield, VA, on 7/9/07, filled out and mailed back out that day.

That is because you probably used the very old version of the form that is on cruffler.com. that version is more than 10 years old and is very out of date. But at least you've got the correct forms in the system now.

Well, like I said, I'm a newbie here (and to the C&RFFL game). Takes some time and application to discern the good gouge from the bad. Not sure whether this license request is a good move or not, seems the most useful aspect of this for a PRK resident is to buy C&Rs personally and physically out of state, which is a rare positional condition for me. Oh, well, let's see what happens, life is a non-reproducible experiment.

not your fault. that cruffler.com site is basically abandoned, IIRC. I wish they would remove that PDF since it is no longer valid at least.

As for its usefullness in CA, you can do the following:

Buy C&R long guns and pistols while out of state. Report all C&R pistol purchases to CADOJ within 5? days using the C&R registration form.
Buy C&R long guns over 50 years old via mail-order or internet and have them shipped directly to your home.

If you get a COE (certificate of eligibility) from CADOJ along with your C&R, it allows you the following exemptions to a couple CA laws:
No 10-day wait on C&R firearms purchased from a dealer. You do have to do the DROS, but you can cash-and-carry right after that.
You are also exempt from the 1-in-30-day handgun regulations on ALL handgun transfers, C&R and Modern.

And with your C&R, you may be exempt from the federal "handgun safety lock" regulations, so you should be able to give the dealer a copy of your C&R and a Safe Affidavit and not have to buy a handgun lock when transfering a handgun.

I didn't receive any confirmation when I ordered mine. In fact, I had to submit it three times because their page kept glitching and I wasn't sure if it went through. Maybe I'll get three envelopes, maybe none, who knows? From what I'm reading here, and in other posts, I'm not really trusting their online ordering process. I will probably call and request one the old-fashioned way, to be safe.

There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to complete the forms online, or at the very least download and print. You can pay your taxes and renew your driver's license online...BATFE needs to get with the program!

i disagree with this.
i was billed on may20th and i'm still waiting for ANY kind of response. i've even talked to a examiner from the 866# on the green form. and still getting no where. i'm 1/2 tempted to just let them charge me again and send in my green form.
