Default LEO Saiga-12 20 rd drum?

Can a California LEO, in California, LEGALLY run 20 round drums through his converted Saiga-12 shotgun? Or is it a no-no like using 30 rd mags in his personal pistol gripped, etc. OLL AR?

I'm no expert, but I have not seen a sanction on mags for LEO. It is what it is.
You can run anything you need.

I'd be more interested to know if a department would sanction a Saiga 12 instead of the more traditional pump actions like the Remington 870 or Mossberg 590 to begin with.

there is no PC against using large-capacity magazines in a shotgun, even in a fixed-mag semiauto shotgun. Now, for Joe Public, acquiring the mags is a problem, but actually using them in a shotgun is not illegal.

LEO's are allowed to legally own large capacity magazines and drums, shotgun included.

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't a semi-auto shotgun fed by a rotary system an assault weapon? and isn't a drum a rotary feeding device?

Listen to neomentat. I'm about certain that drum = rotary feeding device on a shotgun = assault weapon = felony, whether LEO or not, without department approval and registration.

a drum mag is not a rotating drum. Completely different animals. a rotating drum is like the cylinder of a revolver. The rotating drum language was targeted specifically at the Street Sweeper style shotguns.

a LEO can legally purchase/import a drum and use it on their BB'd Saiga.

I'm not sure I'd want to test that theory. You may be right, but I think it's grey area.

In penal code it is called a "rotating cylinder." A drum mag is totally different.

Wow, and they're in stock right now. It's been a while since they've been available.
