Default CA Gun Law History

Where could one find a chronological history of the gun laws as they became enacted and enforcible in CA over the years?

If you have access to a public library reference section, you can get the legislative history from about the 1950's forward in West's Annotated Codes. That will tell you, section by section, what bills added or changed bits to the law. You want PC 12000 - 12999.

But that's the equivalent of a list of change orders on a software project, or a stack of service records on your car.

I wrote a brief treatment on 'assault weapon' laws, Roberti-Roos and following here. A bit about DROS and registration is here. Clayton Cramer has an article on CA's 1923 gun law at this link, and he has a few other CA-specific articles here.

There is no value at all complaining or analyzing or reading tea leaves to decide what these bills really mean or actually do; any bill with a chance to pass will be bad for gun owners.

The details only count after the Governor signs the bills.
