Default SKS-D confusion

I have had a norinco sks-d sitting up in the closet and decided to go buy a ATI monte carlo stock for it today. Now I have not put the stock on due to unease about the whole 992 crap, which leads me here. Today I took off the bayonet spike due to personal preference. I think it looks lame with it on and I'm going to be buying another sks soon but back to the point. What do I have to do to put this stock on legally? If I need to buy parts, what parts do I buy and from who? thanks a lot

Isn't the SKS-D a detachable magazine SKS? If it is, it had better be an registered AW.

On an SKS to be 922r compliant, you need a USA gas piston, op rod, mag/floorplate/follower, plus the ATI stock.

Does it have a bullet button or mag lock? A "D" is a detachable mag model, right? Those are listed.

I'm slow.

Hm looks like I've mistakened. It is not detachable but fixed. I bought it from Ade's year ago. I was cruising the sks board and figured from the pictures there, that it looked closest to the D model.

EDIT: Read the post above about those particular parts, sorry for missing it. Any particular company you guys recommend I buy those parts from?

If your norinco has a bayonette lug on it then it was imported before 922r was required... and no compliance parts are needed.

if its been sawed off then it was imported after 922r went into effect.

Mine came with the bayonet spike on it. I unscrewed it off however... does that affect anything?

i believe 922r still applies because he's altering the configuration of the rifle.

if the rifle was imported before 922r it is not effected by 922r (ex post facto)

As a former owner of a SKS-D I was gonna say that we did not have the option of registering them as AWs. We had to remove them from the state or surrender them. No other options as I recall. I still miss that gun.
