Feb. 1983 - RTC Great Lakes, Ill. Co. 371, made Color Company. I was the only squid performance promoted to E2 in the company (whoopeee). Coming from So. Cal, that was some COLD *** ****!! I still remember the faces and some names. Seems like a life time ago, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Company Commander was PO2 Mendoza and a Master Chief, who was in line to be Master Chief of the Command next. Good Times for me. Next, went to Operations Specialist 'A' school, at Dam Neck, Vi. and then back to OS 'C' school in San Diego. Then off to USS John Young DD973 out of Long Beach.

Go NAVY!!

Quite a coincidence. I was 1003 in 1994, and one of my Drill Instructprs was Sgt Boone.

Default Boot Camp

MCRD San Diego, 1998
Kilo Co. 3025
SDI. Gysgt. Miller
DI. Ssgt. Avery
DI. Ssgt. Furiak

I was gunney Millers' last cycle (he retired)
Ssgt. Avery gave me his Expert Rifle badge off his Dress Blues (he didn't qualify expert that year, and I got Platoon High Shooter)
Ssgt. Furiak is the one who gave me my EGA at the end of the crucible.

We stayed in the Barracks right in front of the Chow Hall. And got to watch the Frieworks go off during the World Series that year while we were trying to sleep, or Firewatch, whichever came first.
