Default Do any of you ladies reload your own range ammo?

Hi,

I've been reading about reloading and watched quite a few YouTube videos of the process but wanted to get womens' perspectives on which presses and accessories you've found most reliable, easy to use, etc.
I'd be reloading .357/.38spl only; no other calibers and no rifle ammo.

Any advice/experience to share?

In my former life, I was privy to two Dillons for pistol: one for .45 and one for .32 since a majority of my competitions were for International Bullseye as opposed to Conventional Bullseye. I only got into it because my ex complained that I was burning up all the ammo and since it was my fault, I had to be responsible in some way - lol

Now that I'm in my present incarnation, I leave all the math and measuring to Steve at Load-X. He makes very pretty .38 spl HBWC, and I find his prices reasonable for target loads.

Besides, the bass tackle has priority in filling the house now

Heh, I take it your present incarnation is semi-rich and full of fish?

Thanks for the tip about Load-X

You're welcome -- chat or email Steve at Load-X -- he's very knowledgable. He also attends most of the gun shows, so being the lazy sort, I send him my order and then pick up the cases of ammo when I'm working the Calguns booth.

And yes, my present life is much more solvent than my former. It helps when you don't have someone say, "How could we be out of money when we still have checks in the checkbook?"

I had my dad's old press and all his stuff to do reloading, but i have been told that for girls who want to be pregnant, they should avoid doing reloading. But that is just my excuse because reloading is sooo boring and i would rather someone else just reload for me or have my mom buy me new ammo.

I keep intending to get around to it -- I've taken a reloading class, have the Lyman manual, and have brass piling up to my ears I am the sort of person who wants to do a trade study before investing in a reloading kit though, and I haven't made the time to wade through all the press options. I'd be wanting to reload, at a minimum, .40S&W, 9mm Luger, and .38 Special. I haven't decided whether it's worth it yet for 12 gauge or my Combloc rifles (probably not.)

My cameralady, "Miss B.H.C.", currently uses my Lee Reloader Press, a cheapie single-stage, that does great even for .30-06. She uses it to load a powder-puff .38 Special round.

It does not cost a lot of money to get started reloading. And February is now getting very close....

Baby I don't know what you're talking about. I'm thinking about YOU here. Do you really want it to turn out like your EMT certification? What's the point of taking classes, studying, etc, etc if you don't put those skills to use? It would be like getting a drivers license and never driving. You've taken the time to take a class and do a little bit of studying. You may as well see this out to the very end.

This is ALL about YOU.

Just because I may get some use out of the press is inconsequential. My thoughts and concerns were first and foremost with YOU and YOUR well being. Frankly I'm HURT that you would think so little of me

Electro play isn't my thing, although I don't think I've ever really tried. It isn't on my list of things to do before hitting 30 though

We better not start talking about electrostim or this conversation could go downhill REAL fast

So far I've only messed with an RCBS Rock Chucker; someone PMed me & generously offered to let me test out his Hornady Lock-N-Load. Over the holidays I guess I'll try to work out exactly what I want...

"Miss B.H.C." has just graduated from single-stage to turret-style reloading. She can reload much faster now. Here she is on the Lee Classic Turret Press.

Don't worry mom, you're just fine how you are

You don't need to be like anybody other than yourself...

As far as I'm concerned Annie Oakley doesn't have on you...

Oh can I borrow the car this weekend?

alitle over two years ago my old man's uncle gave us an old single stage press with some dies all we had then was a marlin .45-70 lever action. and with the old press you had to do every stage one by one with every case. been using the press non stop since we got it now we are reloading for .45 acp, 303 british, 7.62x39, .25-35 too. but we are broke and reuse everything. we scrap lead and cast into projectiles. i'm not sure about new equipment. my old man reads nonstop about everything i'm sure he would have some advice for you.
