Default Utah: Record-shattering number of CCW permits

And I'm one of them since 2005.

Quote:
There's been a record-breaking run on concealed weapons permits in the state in what gun store owners and activists say is fueled by political and economic uncertainty.

Utah issued 15,389 concealed weapons permits in the first three months of the year, shattering the previous record of 11,996, which was set in the second quarter of 2008.

Traditionally, slightly more permits have gone out of state than to Utah residents. But in the most recent quarter, permits going to Utahns edged out those going to non-residents, said Lt. Doug Anderson, Bureau of Criminal Identification manager.

I'm way overdue for mine. They have 60 days by law, that went by on April 2nd. I'm starting to get pissed.

Mr. Stick,

Let me see if I can help you out a bit. Has it been > 60 days since your method of payment has been accepted? Meaning, if you submitted a check, the date that it clears in your account, if you used your credit card on the application, the date that appears on your statement.

The 60 days is NOT from the date you send the application packet in.

If it has been, you can call the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification and they will help you:

Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification:
(801) 965-4445

Please be patient, they are processing thousands a week.

A friend and I were in a Jan 09 class at the CP gun show, the fellow giving the class then went to another show before going back to Utah. Spoke with him last week and was told the CCW should be in hand in early May.

Will they be doing the CCW at the Cow Palace in May again?

If I had the money I might just get one of them, just to have one.

I just sent in my (third I think) renewal, last week.

My renewal was a whopping ten bucks.

It's an awesome permit to have. Besides the $10 renewals, the no firearm list restriction is my personal favorite. No need to qualify, pay a fee, wait to get it added to the permit for every firearm you buy.

Once you get it, you can carry it!

It's good to see that people are getting them. Everyone who has a permit is someone who will want to defend CCWs.

Have patience with the BoCI - they have limited staff and are doing the best they can. It's difficult for them to ramp up staffing quickly. Government entities can't just put an ad on Craig's List, interview a few of them and tell the best one, "start on Monday". Also they don't want to take on more staff if this is a short-term rush. So I hope all the applicants are understanding of this.

If 90 days pass, I would give them a call my friend. Good Luck!

I got mine yesterday guys. They ran my CC on 2/10/09 and it was issued on the card 4/10/2009. The postmark on the envelope they sent it in said 4/15/2009.

Hang in there if you are waiting!!

Jim, was great taking your class and meeting you as well. You run a top notch class for sure.

Anyone thinking about taking this class, it's definitely worth it.

So by CA lawmaker's logic, there should be an increase in violent murders involving guns in Utah?
