Even SA stores in CA sell guns, just not anywhere near san francisco or los angeles.

Who has the best prices on 795 magazines these days? My sources have dried up.

Not sure if it's the cheapest but after looking thru a few sites I thought this was a pretty good price.

The ones in Sacramento do. I bought a Maverick/Mossburg 88 HD shotgun from them.

You realize that there are 2a friendly counties in CA, and not everything in CA is within 50 miles of LA or SF, right?

Funny thing is I don't think that the ones on the border of Az do sell them. I'm out in Riverside and neither SA or Dicks anywhere near here sell anything hunting / shooting related.

I would have thought somewhere out in Riverside might sell those as I would think you need to go somewhere more out of the liberal meccas of LA.

Shot the Marlin 795 at the range today. My particular rifle likes Remington hollowpoints and Blazer
Btw, how do you upload a picture in a reply message?

Mine likes Blazer and Federal HP (36gr), but more so of the Blazer.

Also, mine hated federal hollow point. So many jams. It was having trouble extracting/feeding them i guess

Yay my picture uploaded. Thanks to the poster above me for whatever help i got from you.

Indoor Range. That's a Barska 22 scope i got for about $30 dollars new on ebay.

I'm not the greatest at shooting. This is my 3rd time taking this rifle to the range and my first time shooting it with a scope.

Mine likes Blazer and Remington golden bullet HP's. No jams at all last time i took it to the range with these two ammos

edit: sorry the target was not at 50 yards, i dont think but it was in an indoor range and in the very back or close to the back

http://www.sportsmans-depot.com/prod...-795-Blue.html Front sight is removed by taking off the mounting screw. You will have to knock off the rear sight and tap the new one in.

Can someone post a link to where I can get a picatinny rail for the dove mount.
I seen some 795 in here that have the ones with the 3 bolts on the side, and the
other ones that looks like you have to tap them to the dove mount.

Thanks, Eddie

yep! Just bought one today now I wait again last time I shot a .22 was back when I was 15 hahahaha I figured it was time to finally buy one for myself and with turners sale I just could not hold out anymore! is there any must do mods before shooting her? I get to pick her up on valentines day too! its a present to myself! My fiance gave me the "I want that look" to a nice M&P 9c and fit her hands perfectly....sigh.... but luckily I only had the coin for the marlin! hahaha I guess I'm a dead man now

I'd say shoot it stock first and see how you like it then go from there. Most basic mods have been add a scope, bipod and sling.

Went to the range today and zero'd in both 795's.

Started with the Tech Sights, then zero'd in the rifle with the Barska scope.

Those Tech sights make a HUGE difference!

Cant beat these rifles for the money.

Does anybody know if the Bass Pro in Manteca sells 795's and for how much? I've tried calling them, but their hunting department never answers the phone. I'd prefer Bass Pro because I happen to have a gift card from them.

If not Bass, anyone know of a sporting goods store or gun shop in the Bay Area that sells 795's at a good price? Thanks in advance.

You need to keep trying on Bass Pro as eventually they'll answer. It took me 8 calls over 1 hour to get someone to finally look something up for me. I know that Ammo Bros had a sale on 10/22s for $199 when I was there on Saturday. Turner's has it for $139 until Thursday. I've been considering getting another one of each!

BassPro does carry the 795 but I'm not sure of the price. Seems to me it was about $159, but I can't swear to that. Dick's Sporting Goods in Modesto has it for $139 everyday pricing. At least that was the everyday pricing before the New Year. Haven't been there recently.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I finally got through to the Bass Pro Hunting Department after like 4 calls at different times throughout the day. I swear you should never try to call when they first open or around lunch time.

I don't rely on it exclusively but it gives me a few more buying options.

Big 5, Sportsmans Warehouse and Cabelas almost always have them in stock. The only time I haven't seen them is after Black Friday or anytime Marlin offers the rebates and you can get them for $99.00. You just can't beat a hundred dollar rifle that is this much fun to shoot.

I've got 2 795's, one for each son, and we have put about 2000 rounds through each one without a single FTF or FTE. The only problem we ran into was with my oldest son's rifle on our first time to the range. After about 300 rounds the trigger wouldn't reset. I remembered, then, that I hadn't stripped the gun at home to clean all the manufacturer's thick cruddy grease out of it. I took about 10-15 minutes at the range to field strip and clean everything out and haven't had any trouble since. I feel that the trick to avoiding FTF and FTEs is just to keep them clean. I've also got a 10/22 that I have never had any problems with. (Over 5000 rounds). I'm just a stickler for keeping my firearms clean.
