Little bit of a let down... THe aguila SSS ammo isnt as quiet as I hoped. Its actually louder then the remington subsonic and it has a lower FPS. It also produces A LOT of smoke.

Also... I noticed that the next round to be chambered in the magazine is getting a groove cut into it. I think its coming from the slide. It actually cutting a pretty big groove on the top of the round. Will this cause me problems with bits of lead getting stuck in the reciever?? I took some pictures I can post them later today.

Shoot me a PM.

I had a chance to put a couple hundred more round through my 795 this weekend and its been flawless. So far its gone through 1 box of 525 bulk Federal ammo without a single issue.

BTW, they are still on sale at Turner's for $110, I'm tempted to get another one.

I need a bulk pack of federal ammo. The 795s DO NOT like the aguila SSS.

I noticed in the manual of the new one I bought from Turners (but have yet to shoot), they are pretty specific about which ammo to use. It is supposed to be High Velocity and they name a few brands.

I've used high velocity Winchester, CCI MiniMag, Federal, and Remington (which my other guns hate) and they all have worked just fine (I am over 3000 rounds fired now). All of it was bulk ammo you can find at Wally World, except the CCI.

Bill, you mean to tell me you actually read the manual? BTW, what are you waiting for? Shoot that rifle! I had mine out at the Shoot-N-Q and it was fun making golf balls dance all around the shooting range.

Yeah, sometimes I do read instructions before I use something. I did it primarily to ascertain how to maintain it. I wasn't aware you have to disassemble the action to clean it every 250 rounds.

I didn't bring it to the Shoot as I brought 4 rifles and 4 handguns. I was shooting the SA Pro and M1 Garand for the first time and figured that was enough. Also, I don't have enough rifle cases now. I had to leave my 30-30 at home because of that.

I bought the Marlin to have a .22 rifle and also to teach my grandkids how to shoot it. I have to renew my membership at Rainbow Range and I'll start taking them there again.

I took the tip-off scope off of my broken, cost more to fix than it's worth Winchester 141 and it's on the Marlin now.

I have a .50cal ammo box with loose ammo, CCI Blazer if I recall. Never had an FTF with it, the only issue I've ever had with my 795 with that ammo is mangled bullets causing misfeeds very rarely and I'm pretty sure I've narrowed that down to one of my six magazines, just gotta mark the mags and pay attention the next few times I go to the range to confirm.

Its a bad thing, Most of the stations here have 18-22 year old kids that dont give a crap and take their time, Dribble gas on your car and cant say hi to you.

I drive a work van most of the time and we fill up at Pacific Pride so I pump my own 90% of the time...I let the wife fill up the other cars

I will probably need to fill up tomorrow to go shooting..we drive up in the hills, but the range is 5 min away...Maybe time to join the range

Need to site in the scope. and I just ordered my bipod so I should have that next week

Now to get a cool tactical gun in a .22lr or .17

Picked up my Marlin yesterday and went shooting today. This rifle is pretty accurate. The only problem I have is that it mis-feeds about every 20 rounds. Because of this I had dry fired it about 25 times today. Used Federal bulk. Stripped it down and did a full cleaning. I hope this helps. Anyone know what could cause so many misfeeds? Overall it's a good rifle when it works like it supposed to.

Mine had a FTF and 1 or 2 non ejects in my first box of winchester's (50 pack)

The slide seemed a bit dry and sticky, I did a cleaning when we got home and added a drop of gun oil in the slide area and it seemed to loosen it up quite a bit. I have yet to get back out with it. Maybe this week after work

Need to sight in the scope as well on the same trip...Bipod ordered yesterday as well...Woo Hoo

I've had nothing but problems with mine. Failure to feed, failure to eject. But, I have been using a silicone grease to lubricate the bolt. I cleaned it all off, used some CLP and will see how it works. I'll report back and let you know if this takes care of the problem. I'm curious if the viscosity of the grease was too high to allow the bolt to properly cycle. Hopefully it is because I like the rifle otherwise.

Took my 795 out again today after replacing the greases I used on the bolt with a few drops of CLP. I fired about 200 rounds with between 5 and 10 malfunctions. This is MUCH better than the reliability I have had in the past. I will try it agian some more before I make a final conclusion but it appears that the grease I was using may have been at least a contributing factor in the malfunctions I was experiencing.

I always use oils instead of greases and never have problems.

Since oils arent as thick I break down, clean/oil after every range trip.

Im still breaking mine in, but Ive shot a full box of Federal high velocity bulk 525 and it went bang every time with no jams or problems at all!

Im very happy with mine so far, i clean it with hoppe's and put a couple drops of hoppes oil in the action and its been flawless.

It's a nice little gun. Literally, right out of the box, I just put about 150 rounds of Federal bulk through it. The sights were perfect, I had one case not fully eject on the last round in the mag. I didn't notice until I swapped mags and released the bolt. That was the 20th shot, and no issues after that. I'll get some more time with it this weekend.

Mine was pretty finicky on the Golden Bullets. Had quite a few FTFs.

Federal and Winchester are much more reliable in my 795.

SCORE!!! 4th day going to wallmart on my lunch break and they finally had some federal bulks packs. Walked out with 2200 rounds for $85. The Poway walmart has about 10-15 more brick if anyone is looking for it.

How much are they charging per brick. 2200 rounds run about $65 here, after tax, from my local walmart.
