I picked it up from kvar when they had them in stock last year. The gas block was $100 by itself. But considering they go for $150 in private sales on forums I figured why not. Should have bought more of them when I had the chance. Now the only way to get them is in an entire front end assembly.

http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.ph...cat=274&page=1

Which truth be told, having an extra barrel on hand isn't a bad thing along with the other parts you get with it. It took about a year to get all the parts for this together. Keep in mind I wasn't scrounging for parts, more or less just waiting till I had cash in hand and time to spare to look for them. If you get the front end assembly which is the hardest, then you are pretty much set. You don't necessarily need the folding stock, however it does complete the look.

Thank you for the information!

I built my first AK this year using a NDS-2EZ receiver. Now I'm trying to decide on what to build next year.

I was thinking a clone of an AK-100 series rifle in 5.45x39 - but I hadn't done much research in to them yet.

Does your extended krink style booster/flash suppressor simply slide on over the existing barrel (so that you get the benefits of the 16" barrel) or is your barrel actually just somewhere around 12" in length with a perm. attached hider?

The barrel is a full 16" length under the break. It is a fake break from kvar.

http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.ph...cat=286&page=1

Since SBRs aren't allowed in this state I decided against chopping and pinning. So esentially it is just to complete the look. I would suggest if you are going this route start with a side folder nds receiver. My reasoning is that while it came out good, upon close inspection you can tell the receiver was modified. Which to me irks me as I wanted a 100% factory look. It is just easier to get the receiver, barrel assembly, and folder stock. The only thing that is going to be hard are the internal components such as bolt and carrier. With the saiga base I have a number matching gun. In the future I will likely scrap the receiver and use an nds as a replacement. Does that sound insane? Yeah probably. But I am knit picky about stuff like that.

Fantastic info, thanks again!

Build what you want and have it turn out nice and pretty. It's your money afterall, spend it how you want!

Looks like I've got a good start on my build for next year! Thanks.

I realized I hadn't posted an image of my first build (from March of this year):

NDS-2EZ Receiver
Mostly Bulgarian Parts
East German Barrel
KVar Furniture

My attempt at a simple romy G. I wanted to stack the clear on the furniture but resisted.

Default It finally works

Started out as a standard Draco, but had to chop 1 1/2" off due to a split gas block. And that was just the beginning of it.

Here's my WASR 10/63. Picked it up last week. Thinking of getting rid of the tapco handguard. Not really liking it.

So far...

Some featureless Romy "Saigas".

The RPK is built on the very last NDS-7 receiver.

Very nice!

Where did you get:

The muzzle brake

The pistol grip (AK builder used to have them but I don't think they carry them anymore).

^ Thanks, the E-TAC TALON BRAKE and AK grip were bought from Carolina shooter supply.
That brake, I haven't seen (7.62x39) them in stock anymore for a while now, only in 223.

That muzzle brake on the M92 is what I had in mind (if I ever get a hold of one) instead of a fake can... Kindda like Ted Marshall's Krinkovs. I know he's not the one that came up with that but I usually see those on his Krinkovs.
