Default Why do YOU own guns?

I've been watching lots of videos lately regarding gun control and our 2A rights. Whenever a gun owner is asked why s/he owns a firearm, the answer is almost always for "protection". Very rarely do people bring up the fact that they are used for recreation, sporting purposes (competition), and hunting. They always seem to say "If guns were banned, how would I protect myself?".

My main reason for owning guns is recreational. By recreational, I mean that I don't hunt nor do I compete. I just like going to the desert and shooting s***. I say to myself, "If guns were banned, I would be out of a hobby".

Whats your PRIMARY reason for owning firearms?

If you have another reason, feel free to let us know.

I want to know what your MAIN reason is. If you were no longer allowed to own firearms, what would your mind run to first? I cant hunt anymore? I cant defend myself anymore? I cant compete anymore? I cant recreationally shoot anymore? Or I cant..... (fill in the blank)

I've liked guns since I was a kid and now I have enough disposable income to slightly indulge. Oh and protection...

I "use" my gun for mostly hunting. I do have them for personal protection and recreation though...epecially the handguns and semi-auto rifles.

Im with Fantasma on that one. However in the terms we currently live in, I say that I own guns for recreational purposes and because I just like them. And because I can

E. all of the above

The main reason though is protection. I have first hand experience of how valuable guns are. A gun has saved my life before. I wont tell the story online though its too personal.

its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

it is just like a fire extinguisher or reserve parachute, boating life vest

its a thing you never really "need" till you need it

of course they also allow you to have fun with them between "needs"

No, "All of the above?" As you can see, most own for multiple reasons. Me, all except competition.
