I missed picking one of these up for $400 back in 2000... I have felt like an idiot ever since.

Great rifles.

Kick yourself yet again - the original post and majority of this thread is a year old.

So you picked up the Johnson? I went out to look at it about a year ago but it wasn't what I was looking for but none the less was a solid Johnson.

Great rifles.

Since these suckers sold for between $2500-$3000 back in 2000 you should have kicked yourself then.

$400 is what they sold for in the early 70's as that is when the price on the more rare WWII stuff started taking off.

My almost purchase was in the early 90's where I saw one at a gun show that was, converted I beleive, to a LMG but in semi of course. They wanted over $2000 then but were willing to take $1800. I did not know enough about them to feel safe buying such since that was a lot of money to me.

I will say this one is a good investment as price has doubled in ~15 years so it keeps up with inflation, and unlike other hobbies like booze, cars, women, fast cars, fast cars with fast women, vacations to Europe, power tool collecting, and so on, you get to have your hobby and get all your money back when you are done with it.

Lucky dog - I was just posting a reply the other day, when someone was talking about nixing old ads, that about two years ago I replied to a 9 month old ad by PM, and the guy sold it to me - at lower than his original price.

Congrats!
