Some more pictures of my first wild boar. He was about 90lbs before gutting and skinning. Was taken at about 85 yards with a 130grn 270.

I had a chance to rendezvous with my two best friends last April in Oklahoma City for a little bit of R&R....... turkey hunting style.

My friend Pete lives in OKC, and hosted the trip. He is friends with a few land owners, so he took us out to some private land around Minco and Paul's Valley. We hunted over a long weekend opener Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The final tally was two nice toms on Friday (9"+ beards), two jakes on Saturday, and another big tom on Sunday to round out the bag at five birds in three days.

There were five hunters total, with two being virgins. We spent the time splitting up into various groups for different locations and blinds, but I happened to have the good fortune to have called in all the turkeys (dumb luck, I assure you)..... However, the bottom line for that weekend was that if you wanted a bird, you needed me in the blind to get it.

Here are some pics:

Friday tom #1:

Same blind as above, two hours later. Friday tom #2:

Saturday's jakes, including Vic's first ever turkey. I called in a trio, but there were only two of us in the blind:

Sunday tom, Michael's first ever turkey:

Nice fish Nor cal! I love the shot of you standing on the north end of the Malecon. By buddies house is about 75 feet from there. Best fishing ever in that town.

Here's my most recent big game harvest. Spent a full day scouting the first day, saw a big herd at first light and a group of 3 at dusk but never got a shot. Second day we know where they hung out so we got into the field 30 min before shooting time and hot to the tules they were hiding in just at shoot time. Buddy and I watched one leave the tules, shortly followed by a second one, at which time there was no way i was waiting any longer for a shot. Shooting off-hand with by .50 beowulf, with only a red dot on top. First shot hit at around 70 yards, the last pig stop running at around 150 yards.

Big sow on the left and the boar on the right are mine, sow in the middle is my buddy's. Estimated at 350, 200, and 100 pounds from left to right. Got meat for quite some time now!
